This gasket is the updated version @ a great price. These are the metal, not plastic design. These gaskets takes care of Gm's issues with leaking. oil, coolant out the side seals. Has every gasket you could need. You will have to buy the upper plenum separately. In my case the super charge gasket. I didn't find a set with that included. Go with Fel-Pro. It's a big job & I don't feel like doing it twice so don't cheap out with unknown inferior gaskets

So ya, these are high quality gaskets. On this old 97 Bonneville L36 series 2 (I think) engine I used the blue end seals which I believe fit on the older engines (series II and earlier?) and I used the fatter o-rings for the fuel injectors, I only put on the bottom o-rings, but if I remember correctly, the top ones (plugged into the fuel rail) are the same size. So I only had six of the proper size for the lower part of the fuel injectors, which fit into the intake manifold. I would have to buy six more if I wanted to replace the ones in the fuel rail as well. Those were not leaking so I didn't bother with that. Also, don't forget that small amount of RTV in the bottom four corners of the intake manifold, both below and above the gasket and end seal junctions. I torqued the lower manifold bolts to 14 ft-lbs. in 3 passes. I did have a few minor scratches and minor pitting on the bottom of the manifold, but I believe this gasket will easily take care of that. Installed and working perfectly so far.Update: 8 Months Later... Still perfect.

the 3800 is a great engine, aside from a bad intake manifold gasket design. This metal backed gasket is the fix and for most people only has to be replaced once. I replaced the original plastic backed gasket with a metal backed gasket at about 90k miles, then had the metal backed gasket leak at around 270k miles. Most people don't keep their car going this long, so it's usually a one and done fix. Replacement took me about 4 hours in my driveway. Don't forget to order a new intake plenum gasket and replace the plastic coolant elbows with aluminum elbows.

I was loosing fulid out of the radiator classic symptom everyone complains about but the radiator is not leaking. My friend had a 2001 like mine. Same thing. I found milky looking oil in my oil cap. Oil still looks like oil. Lower intake manifold gasket is letting the oil into the The coolant and vise versa, the radiator cap also had a film of darker slimy muddy oil on it. I been driving the car like this for a while. In traffic it will overheat. It blows the water into the engine oil I figured it would damage the engine if I kept driving like that. The water burns off as' steam out the exhaust , not a good thing. So I ordered the Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold upper kit and the Felpro MS 98014 T Intake Manifold Gasket for the lower. Job was a lot easier then I thought. It took some time I didnt rush. I rented/free a torque wrench from Auto Zone. I have a 2001 Impala 3800 series 2 105K mi. Been lossing coolant for 3 years slowly but got worse. The upper wasnt real bad but the LIM gasket was horrible. You can see it shrunk brittle and old oil and coolant was nasty broken in some' places.I replaced the upper intake plenum with the Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold it wasnt in bad shape but when your taking it all apart just replace it anyway to avoid problems. It's been 4 days now and all is well so far, parts worked well had no problems with them and the local auto stores wanted like $140 plus for the Dorman 615-180 Intake Manifold kit. Shipping was fast.It took me about 4 hours late in the day to take apart. Started cleaning to put back on. The next day 4 hours to put back on. It would have faster if I was set up but looking for tools and stuff took longer. No serious special tools were needed. Oh and I cheated I didnt take the altenator bracket off if you have help you can slide the LIM back in place slide the water inlet back in without any trouble. You should replace that plastic water elbow while apart also.I used the old one I replaced it couple of months ago but if orignal replace both plastic elbows cause they are ready to go. I also replaced the thermosat with a better quality one. As a do it yourselfer I am paying foward to maybe help someone else, I read all the reviews and watch youtube videos and they really help me. Hope this info helps! ~Lou

There is no exact info on the upper o-rings of the Impala. They have all the lower rings. Also comes with rtv. Let that sit for a min before torque down. The blue is for a 3.4 the red is for the 3.8

These are tge only way to go when buying lower intake gaskets. Felpro has this design figured out. It has been 3 years ,and no leaks. If your looking for a great gasket...Felpro is the inky way to go. At least this set.
