I didn't think moving from a $150 sander to a $500+ sander would make a huge difference. Boy was I wrong. This sander is amazing. It is so smooth and easy to hold. Gone are my tingly hands after needing to sand for an hour or more. This thing just purrs in your hand and does its thing. It is also much quieter than my old sander.I like the small sanding stroke as it seems to leave a nicer finish. It still seems to remove quickly too. I know the 5mm stroke is supposed to take of layers more quickly but I am very pleased with how quickly the 3mm removes wood. The only thing I've noticed with this sander is that the pad is not made to work well with 3M Cubitron Xtract mesh paper. I needed to purchase an interface pad to get the 3M paper to stay on well. I also have some non-mesh, non-3M paper I can no longer use since the hole patterns don't match up. Luckily I still use my old sander and continue using that paper although 99% of the time I'm now using the 3M paper and will probably never use up the old paper.Overall, I am extremely pleased with this sander, and I feel it is worth every penny. It sands faster and better than my old sander and I get no hand fatigue. Due to its price point, this sander is not for the average person. If you are a professional or a hardcore hobbyist or woodworker than I highly recommend it. If you are just a weekend DIYer that only occasionally sands, stick with the $75-$150 sanders.

150/3 vs 150/5 refers to the amount of travel in the "stroke" of the orbital sander. The greater the stroked the faster the sanding. The 150/3 works great for me as my main finishing sander as I have a 6" rotex to do alot of the heavy work needed. This is important to know before spending this kind of money on a sander. But in my opinion anyone who sands even a modest amount be it for work or hobby should invest in one of these high quality sanders it will make the job go faster and give a better quality end product.

I'm telling you, after getting some of Festool tools, I am wanting to buy them all. They are made for the woodworker. Smooth, quiet, and works great with the Festool Vac...

My son and I are now into the serious hobby stage of woodworking. As we bought both power and hand tools, I bought a good Bosh sander which I thought was a justifiable decision. However, after learning that everything we work on must be sanded multiple times with various grits I finally opted to make the investment in the Festool. It's just an unbelievable difference. Ill still use my older sander with the real rough work but from 80 grit and higher, my Festool is the only thing I'll use. Worth every penny!

I now have two Festool 6" sanders - the 150/3 and a beefy RO150. I really like this pair along with a Festool vac for great sanding AND dust control. The Festool singing system is really good!

I have many Festool products and love them all but this sander is sooooooo smooth and well balanced I can operate it barely touching it. I can so much longer now because the vibration is so much less than my other sander it doesn’t make my hand go numb. Love it!
