About this item

  • Brilliant overtones for a full, vibrant, resonant tone
  • Quick response for better articulation
  • Excellent pitch stability and intonation in all ranges, even for clarinet
  • The same "woody" tone as cane but with better sound projection

Fibracell reeds have been available in retail outlets worldwide for over 14 years. Top players in the business depend on Fibracell reeds for the best sound and feel around. Fibracell material is a sophisticated composite of aerospace materials designed to precisely duplicate the way Nature constructs reed cane. Very stiff but sound absorbing Aramid fibers are suspended in a light weight resin formulation.

I really like Fibracell synthetic reeds, I’ve used a baritone sax reed on my Bass sax for years and it’s tops! Recently I started messing around with the clarinet so I bought a Fibracell #2 (I play trad jazz so I like a soft flexy reeds). The Fibracell was a little stouter than a Rico #2, so in retrospect I wish I got a 1.5. The #2 plays more like a #3 Rico which is fine, just be aware that at least mine was a little stiffer than I expected. It still sounds fine, indistinguishable from a cane reed and certainly good enough for a student or marching band playerMy experience with playing Fibracells on the Bass sax is they last several months and I tend to replace them twice a year. The savings and consistency over wood reeds makes them first choice for me every time.

Best reed I’ve played with. Unlike most synthetic reeds, it has a warm, natural sound. It’s loud, durable, works on my Resinite and wooden clarinet. Metal ligature tends to slip.

I like that it's starts more quickly, easier to play in the third register, doesnt need any presoak, and more durable. Sound quality not as good as bamboo.

This number 2 reed works great with my mouthpiece , my sax , and the way that I play … I play multiple instruments and I can go from one to another , without having to wet the reed . . . I use them on all of my woodwinds … they give me a really good feeling of control over my instrumental sounds ! They work really well for me … right out of the box ! I used Rico Plasticover reeds for years … they are pretty good too … but the coating comes off too easy …and I don’t know where it goes … The Fibracell reads feel like a natural cain reed …

I just started playing the clarinet a few months ago. In that time I've gone through a couple dozen cane reeds and had periods of chronic screeching . I saw synthetic reeds reviewed online and ordered this reed to try out. It is fantastic! I could not be happier with it. I almost never screech anymore. My tone is much better and I am enjoying my playing much more. In addition, it is much more convenient because after I clean my clarinet I can put on this reed and the clarinet is ready to go for my next practice session with no delay to moisten the reed. Perhaps for an experienced clarinetist cane is better but for a beginner, synthetic is the way to go.

I can't blow any note by using this reed, only air sound, but I use another brand name Bravo, I can blow most of the notes easily. May be I used it wrong? Can anyone tell me?

I will definitely purchase more of these Fibracell reeds. I put it on the horn and played immediately with no soaking or wetting. It performed beautifully, was comfortable in the mouth - no rough spots on the tip or elsewhere - and increased my confidence in having more control and less squeaks. I am 70 years old and play in a symphonic band. The days of buying a ten pack of bamboo reeds and finding only 2 or maybe 3 out the pack that are acceptable are over! Fibracell is well worth the money. I only wish I had discovered them sooner. I ordered the same strength that I used with the bamboo reed and it was perfect!

I have used Fibracell reeds before and they sound fine on certain mouthpieces and offer better performance reliability in difficult conditions or playing outdoors than cane reeds. But the seller furnished Fibracells that were either used or returned for another strength after testing or production 'seconds', judging from the scratches or marks on the reed underside and the edges. All 3 reeds I purchased had minor defects that I have not encountered before on this brand. I sterilized the reeds and decided to keep them because I really needed them now, they played ok and the strength I use is not available in my region (EU). But I don't recommend the seller as it would seem they are shipping an inferior version of an otherwise good product.
