The manual shut-off timer connects directly into the gas line in order to provide automatic control of the appliance connected at the end of the gas line. The manual rotary timer can be set for up to 1-hour and anywhere in between and mechanically counts down until shutting off the gas. The valve features two 1/2-inch female connections for an inlet/outlet to allow installation into a 1/2-inch gas line.

After leaving my natural gas grill on for several days, I decided that a automatic shutoff would be great. It seemed a little spendy, but I didn’t really see any competition. So, supply and demand. Anyway the one time additional bill would have paid for a couple of these. One review I saw said theirs died after a couple of years. It’s a pretty simple design with a manual wind up spring. Having designed instrumentation for outdoors, I suspect the early failure was due to weather, so I put mine in a weatherproof housing immediately above the existing shut off valve. It comes with female 1/2†NPT fittings so it was easy to add a couple of nipples and move the grill flex hose. I do think attaching it to a small propane tank would present a challenge for adaptors. For me, on natural gas, it works great!

Works great. We didn’t buy the Reduce their attachment with the item so we had to go to the home improvement store and get one. Definitely recommending to add to reduce with your purchase

After finally finding a kit to connect the unit to my LP gas grill - it doesn't work well. Often, it just stops in the middle of the countdown. Once it stopped between 40 minutes and 20 minutes - but still allowed the gas to flow. Another empty tank. Exactly why I bought the unit in the first place. Really disappointed and quite honestly surprised. I had used one at resort and it worked well and I thought it was a great idea. The one I received doesn't work well. Don't recommend.

Bought two of these for outdoor fire tables, and both stopped working just after two years. For such an expensive and simple device I would expect these to last much longer.
