I bought this because I purchased the newer Imac that no longer has firewire 400 ports, but only the faster 800. I have a couple video cameras that that have the mini firewire out ports that I used to connect to firewire 400 ports on older computers. So when I decided that I wanted to go back to the original tapes I needed a cord that could connect the DV firewire to the newer 800 ports. This cord filled the bill as expected. It performed exactly as expected and at a great price.

I purchased this cable to go from Firewire DV/400 to 800 to two additional connectors to my Mac Pro M1 to transfer MiniDV tapes from a camcorder. This cable unfortunately was defective as the camcorder was unrecognized by the Mac Pro and I was unable to transfer the videos. I suspected it was the cable and luckily was able to purchase another one from Amazon which worked perfectly. There appears to be a few other reviews on the cable citing the same issues, so buyer beware.

Cheaply made with male Firewire 400 end too large to fit in Firewire 400 port. No product conformity standards. DOA with no connection between the miniDV player and computer. Do not waste your money on this cable.
