I purchased this in Dec. 2019, yesterday my downstairs neighbor set their oven on fire and I ended up using mine.. so I'm definitely repurchasing because it proved a min 5yr shelf life and it was super easy to use (at 40yo I've only ever used a fire extinguisher one other time) highly recommend. Also SMALL BUT MIGHTY. Not much bigger than some of my water bottles, I've had it on my counter at my last two apartments now because I lost the mounting bracket to the wall of my old house 🤦‍♀️😅

This review is for the kitchen fire extinguisher. I based this purchase strictly on wanting a small, handy fire extinguisher specifically for kitchen use. I happen to know the classifications and uses for different types of extinguishers but my wife doesn't, so I wanted to take the guesswork out of a time-sensitive event. I bought this and mounted it at the top of my basement stairs which is in close proximity to the kitchen and easily accessible if needed. It is compact and has a low-profile. Not too heavy to handle and operate. Most importantly it is specifically intended for oil/grease and electrical fires (B-C). The other deciding factor was that it has a pressure indicator. I was considering some of the aerosol-type extinguishers but they have no way of indicating they are still pressurized. The last thing you want to do is "hope" the unit will work when needed (over time, extinguishers may lose pressure). This has an approved test button that you occasionally press to ensure the unit is still pressurized (it does NOT discharge any agent - it simply tests for adequate pressure). You should NEVER test extinguishers by slightly discharging them - the nozzle seal will be broken and it will slowly lose pressure. It will be rendered useless shortly after such a test. Overall this seems to meet our needs and we hope it's never needed. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, inexperience or failing to read the product details prior to purchasing. Writing valuable reviews helps pay it forward.

So, I'm several decades old, and got this far in life taking for granted a fire extinguisher. With forest fire season upon us, I began thinking about our fire safety in our 5th wheel, and went down the rabbit hole of educating myself ( I'm the queen of rabbit hole). While taking an inventory in our home, vehicles, camp gear, RZR and doing an inspection, I learned I was not properly prepared. I found myself digging through things to find my current very outdated 1990's extinguishers, and the ones in the vehicles I had to fumble to get detached. All situations that I feel should be able to be done in seconds without hesitation. So, after my poorly executed fire plan, I decided to update everything and give myself and my family a "fire fighting" chance. I began researching new extinguishers and here I found a new lesson THERE'S DIFFERENT CONTENTS of an extinguisher for different types of fires. I took a red fire extinguisher for granted all my life thinking, fire 🔥 = any near by extinguisher. I'm not going into the details on all that because I may have been the only one that just learned that, but if you don't know the difference, I strongly recommend you just familiarize yourself, just to know.REVIEW OF EXTINGUISHERI haven't used them but I'm very impressed the size is perfect, they feel heavy duty, they are labeled well and have hangers to attach them. I like the variety pack. This is a great starter pack for our 5th wheel.I bought several other fire extinguishers to place throughout. Remember to be considerate of the contents vs the location you are placing them in, yes there are universal ones but you may prefer a water based one in the kitchen instead. Just food for thought.Another random thought for the day: When was the last time you cleaned the filter in your dishwasher? You're welcome.Stay safe! Thanks for reading! Have a great day!But these extinguishers!

I'm discovering that the #1 best-seller in fire alarms and extinguishers is notorious for products that do not work. Alarm recalls, don't-works, and leaky or stuck valves. First Alert has been in the consumer field from the start and seems to have a better record. A kitchen extinguisher is designed to suffocate grease fires without blowing grease all over the stove and kitchen.

This purchase replaces the expired extinguishers ... yeah, about 30 years expired. I know, don't say it. I decided I should get them because .... duh! Yeah, aside from the obvious, I bought a new gas stove after my old gas stove died. I wanted to be prepared. There's no reason to think the new stove will try to set the house on fire, but right now it's a stranger in my home and I want to be armed in case it acts up when my daughter cooks Thanksgiving dinner. This will be the real trial test for the stove, the turkey hours and the stove top cooking.I can't say anything about to the extinguisher, except to say that it fits the storage holder that I installed 30 years ago. I know I'm supposed to test them, but when you test them they expire faster and there's no built in guage for monitoring the status. After testing, there's no way to know if there will be enough to put a fire out. Yes, they should be replaced often enough that I shouldn't have those concerns. I know that. We don't plan the fires and we should be prepared.Oh! I just thought ... I need to find out the proper way to dispose of the old ones. My daughter and I are going to try out the old ones, just to see how such old extinguishers work.Well, with these extinguishers, I guess you don't know how they work until you need to know that they do work.

Did the job! But be prepared for the huge cloud of blue dust that will cover everything in your home. After you put the fire out, quickly shut every door you can, open the windows and have a dust mask near by. I went outside until the dust settled. Much better than fire and/or smoke damage though. And apparently it’s non toxic. Gave me a good reason to spring clean my entire home! I was able to clean the dust off of everything with a good rag and hot water. Soap is unnecessary. Vacuuming was problematic as the dust is so fine that it was coming out of the cracks of my Dyson vacuum cleaner. Also having a Dyson air purifier and several humidifiers in my home helped a lot.

Until used, this question is more or less invalid, but size, price an shipping (free) are the deciding factors

I’ll update this review if I ever have to use it but so far it’s great. Feels sturdy and well made, certified by all the right orgs. Small and compact yet dense and weighty for the size. Operation seems very easy, yet safe to store too. Overall good impression!
