Very reliable and dependable alarm at a great value. Easy to install, long battery life. Seems to be very sensitive sensors (which is a good thing), as just very little smoke from cooking can set it off. Loud enough to wake anyone up. Warning beep alerts when battery is low. We use these in our home, and our rental properties. High quality from a name brand at a fair price.SLEEP EASY WITH PEACE OF MIND.

Wanted to switch over to the 10 year versions as I was tired of buying batteries. A big issue with these are when they malfunction, you can't replace the battery or troubleshoot. You have to disable them completely which renders them useless. Well, when you have a working $10 one that you can change a battery every year, or a more expensive one that "SHOULD" last 10 years and dies after a few months, you can imagine how unpleasant that is. I had to return one as it did just that -- malfunctioned and wouldn't stop beeping for no reason (and, naturally, in the middle of the night). Since you can't reset them, you're stuck disabling them -- and now have an expensive paperweight that you didn't get your return on investment.So, they do work -- just beware that sometimes they don't. And when they don't, you've got a paperweight.

You may think to yourself "How can a smoke detector be TOO sensitive?!" Well let me tell you. Right now I'm baking bread, and the smoke detector went off... again. It goes off anytime something is in the oven and believe me, my oven is clean and NOTHING is burning. This thing is more dangerous than any other smoke detector because I have to disable it all the time because the most benign things set it off. I've NEVER had a smoke detector, even in that some place, act like this. This thing is junk.
