Want bigger fish? Use bigger "live" bait as the video in the item's listing describes. I used these hooks for the first time last season and I will say they attract a lot of attention from fish. When you attach live shrimp to this hook set-up and a fish sees that bait moving around, the fish will take the bait and the hook with it. You then have yourself a large, near trophy-sized catch. I used this in North Canada and the Muskey and Northern Pike could not resist. I expect to have the same results in salt water next time I go to Florida.

I initially thought these hooks were something of a gimmick, but I quickly discovered that they are quite functional. The small rubber band goes around the horn of the shrimp, and the small loop near the back of the spring inserts between the shell plates. The hook secures well and stays put. This is an excellent method to use because it keeps the shrimp alive and moving, indefinitely. I also found a way to attach the hook to a standard-sized crawfish. I had to use a larger rubber band because crawfish don’t have horns. However, crawfish can occasionally get loose from my improvised rig, but that’s on me and not the hook. My only issue is with the hook point because it’s not as sharp as it should be, especially for a new hook. I had to use my hook sharpener to get the point a little bit sharper. Otherwise, I am satisfied and have no other criticisms to report.

I was excited to try these, I go through five dozen live shrimp per outing, was looking for a better mouse trap.Sadly, it’s not a better mouse trap. Two issues.First, the rubber band is not oriented to position on the shrimps horn. It’s 90 degrees the wrong way. This ends up being extremely important when you are holding a live, wriggling shrimp on a boat.Second, the metal clip that is designed to clip to the back of the carapace is too small. What ended up happening for me is by the time I managed to get the clip on, the shrimp was dead, torn practically in half, defeating the point of the whole thing. I casted it anyway, the fish weren’t impressed.Third - it takes way too long to do this. By the time I was able to get my half killed shrimp rigged on the hook, my wife had casted her jig head three times. This product might work well for those that have 20/20 vision, on land, with perfect quality shrimp. None of that was true for me, unfortunately.

so the elastic bands don't quite stretch as much as the picture would indicate, but they do stretch out. the hooks however are good quality and would easily hold on a larger catch.

I show a photo of a shrimp I attached and it doesn't look correct. I did use it and lost the shrimp - I assume he just fell off.I assume with practice I could figure it out but I went back to my old ways.
