About this item

  • Ideal for demolition work like shattering concrete (demolition face) or driving stakes and wedges (driving face)
  • Wedged demolition face concentrates force for up to 5X more destructive power than traditional designs and directs debris to the sides, not back at you
  • Extra-large diameter driving face improves strike accuracy
  • Patented IsoCore Shock Control System absorbs strike shock and vibration to reduce the punishment your body takes, transferring 2X less shock and vibration than wood handles
  • Lifetime

This rugged, powerful sledge hammer allows you to take on intense demolition tasks while helping to reduce muscle fatigue and joint pain. Premium steel is forged into a unique head featuring a wedged demolition face to maximize destructive force and an extra-large driving face for improved strike accuracy. Fiskars patented, industry-leading IsoCore Shock Control System absorbs strike shock and vibration, reducing the punishment your body takes, and a dual-layer handle captures any lingering vibration. An inseparable riveted head will not slide down or snap off, even when swinging with maximum force. A performance handle design fits your hand securely and comfortably, and strategic texturing helps improve grip while reducing blisters. This design has been tested to exceed U. S. standards for striking tool durability to withstand the toughest work environments.

I plan to start doing some gold prospecting with my childhood buddy. I felt that a good, small sledge might come in handy. I didn't want a cheap one that might break. So I went with a brand that I am familiar with, and I don't regret it one bit. This thing is built like a brick.... well, you know. I'm glad I have it. It can be used for many things besides cracking boulders.

I use it for splitting logs, and it works great. It might be worth your while to go to a store and physically pick one up first because it's a bit more difficult to lift than I assumed. I think the sledgehammer I was using previously was 6-8 lbs. I'm going to continue to use it because it delivers lots of power per strike, but it is something of a workout for me. I realize they do tell you it's a 10 lb. hammer, so it's on me that I didn't realize how heavy that feels. I do lift weights regularly during the winter, so I should have known better. The head is 10 lbs., and the total weight of the entire tool is 12.5 lbs.

Great weight for my big hands and a great price for a well built small sledge so far no regrets in purchasing. Handle length is perfect and sturdy and for a 4lb hammer it feels heavy but its made from steel, real steel.

You will literally want to find heavy stuff to hammer! I use mine for ground stakes and fencing tasks. Great product.

The grip on the handle is comfortable and ergonomic and the shaft is strong but lightweight. I needed a heavy hammer to split larger logs on my stand-up log splitter. It was a little unwieldy at first. It's huge and heavy compared to my 3 lb. hammer but after a few dozen tentative swings I was able to learn how far away to stand and now I'm swinging it like a lumberjack. I've used it to split dozens of large diameter rounds into fire pit ready splits for my smoke-less outdoor pit. It still looks great, showing only slight signs of wear but no splintering or anything like that. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Update; I have used this nearly daily for several weeks now breaking up rocks so I can remove them. I can only do this for a couple of hours and don’t swing it constantly. It does transmit much less shock than my old wooden handle model. One thing I did not like was the large stickers that did not want to peel off.my wife suggested using a hair dryer, which worked perfectly, and did not leave any residue - which occurred on a shovel but acetone took care of that. If you need a tool to break out concrete or, as in my case, limestone, this works exceptionally well. I have used both sides. The flat side works to “help” move rock or small tree roots. The wedge end splits rock unlike anything non powered I have seen or used. Just to make sure I tried the flat end and it works to break rock but requires many more blows. The handle does indeed absorb shock more than wood or regular fiberglass handles. I got the ten pound one, which has a total weight of all. 12.75 pounds, so it’s heavy. But your not usually doing round house swings with it, at least I am not. Excellent tool, with Fiskars outstanding warranty, which make it even better.

It’s a good sledge hammer. I didn’t get the wedge side though. I got an axe side. For my purposes that may come in handy, but i was confused to receive a sledge axe instead of the demo sledge.

I bashed apart an entire brick/concrete step in one afternoon with this bad boy. It's heavy but it's mighty. I felt like Thor weilding this thing around. Very nice tool.
