This device has a warning not to put fingers above the transducer. It really hurts! The ultrasonic works at 1.7 megahertz and has 12 watts of power. I thought I could use it for super fast ultrasonic cleaning. The energy beam is so powerful that it will actually melt and puncture plastic that is held submerged about one and a half inches above the transducer. As expected it produces healthy quantities of fog. The black bulb is actually a sensor that shuts off power to the transducer if the water level runs low. Apparently if the piezoelectric diaphragm operates even for a second without being underwater it will fail.

Edit: Seller replaced and seems to be working fine, the water detection is good the misting ability is moderate.Originally: Ill start by saying, I Didn't test it when I got it and waited till I was ready to use it with the project im working on.. so im past the return window...Placed it in bowl of water and adjusted the water to several heights from 1cm to 3in above the sensor. kind of moved the water but no mist.replaced the disk with the spare and tried again. still nothing.broken from the box, wish I had thought to test it when it came, now its junk...

They say the third time’s a charm. I ordered two other misters from another company and they were both defective, neither one worked, very frustrating, but this one works great!

This unit appears well built, it does not have any lights so it may be used in the root zone of a hydroponic chamber.I placed it in a 3.5l plastic box and it quickly generated about 1l of dense cold cloud, and about an additional 0.5l of thinner cloud.I did not measure the temperature over time but the manufacturer claims it has an internal temperature sensor, to shut it off above 60c

It's trash it's sprays water and if you stick your hand in the water it will shock you.

I put this little guy in an old teapot and suspend it as a humidifier. The previous one I bought was sporadic and unpredictable but this one is still working after non-stop use for over 6 months. It hasn't shown signs of stopping or cutting out. I'm very happy with this mister.
