I was reluctant to get a "cordless" angle grinder, as I've always used corded ones and I like the power they offer. This angle grinder easily keeps up with it's corded brethren. I mostly use it for cutting steel.I find it's more of a "go-to" now that I don't have to run cords.I've also been using it in demolition to cut pipes (both metal and plastic), wires, molding, nails and more.

I have several Flex tools and they have proven to be professional grade tools that have yet to disappoint. This cordless grinder continues that legacy. The first thing you’ll notice is the size and weight, this isn’t a cheap throw-away tool. At over 3 pounds, the grinder is fairly heavy compared to the consumer grade angle grinders. It is also a bit longer. It comes with a 5Ah, 24-volt battery, which, as you’d expect, is fairly large and weighs over 2 lbs. When fully assembled you end up with a grinder that (without a grinding wheel attached) is about 15 inches long and weighs just over 6 pounds. The grinder offers multiple speeds, however the speed is not variable via the paddle switch. The speed is adjusted via push buttons on the handle which offers 4 options, selectable via the plus and minus buttons. Having adjustable speeds is a requirement for my work, so I am happy this grinder offers it. The slower speeds work well for non-abrasive finishing discs and the higher speeds are good for cutting and grinding.Everything about this grinder is well thought out. The electronics are protected by fine metal screens integrated in to the vents in the handle, the safety guard is extremely easy to reposition via a simple latch mechanism. The handle is robust with good vibration padding, and the length and balance of the tool works well with the paddle switch to provide a solid grip and excellent control. The 5Ah battery has large charge indicator LEDs on both sides, which is a nice touch that makes keeping track of the remaining charge easy. Speaking of battery, the fast-charger is solid and robust. It has a built-in fan to keep things cool while charging, which is a great feature that extends the life of the battery and the charger. The unit I ordered came as a kit with the grinder, battery, charger and a zippered carrying bag. As I mentioned, as with all my Flex tools, this is a pleasure to use and is built for the professional. I have no doubt it will survive my metal fabrication shop and will make on-site work a lot easier.

I own 2 other grinders which are a corded Milwaukee which I almost never use and a cordless Dewalt Flex volt. I wanted to try this grinder because it is cordless like my Dewalt but it is a lot less bulky. Likes: 1. Has descent amount of torque and power. 2. A lot less bulky and lighter than my Dewalt grinder. 3. Brushless and Cordless. (Honestly, with the variety of cordless tools I only use a corded table saw, drill press and rotary hammer drill). 4. Comes with a 5AH battery. I have used this grinder to cut steel with a cut off wheel and for rust removal with a flap disc. I'm satisfied with the performance of this grinder. Actually, after using this tool I have been searching for the other tools that are made by FLEX as they also make a battery powered 12" dual bevel sliding miter saw and 8 1/4" table saw that I'm looking to purchase.

Now, if you're the kinda person who likes to get down and dirty with some good ol' DIY projects or maybe you just gotta fix up that old jalopy in the garage, well, hold onto yer britches 'cause this grinder might just be your new best buddy. First off, let me say, this thing's got more power than Uncle Bob's old pickup truck after he put in that fancy new engine. I ain't no expert on fancy motors and whatnot, but this grinder's got one of them sensor-free brushless motors that's smoother than a fresh jar o' peanut butter. No friction, no fuss, just pure power. If you're lookin' to tackle them DIY projects like a true blue country pro, grab yourself one of these FLEX Angle Grinders. It'll have you sayin' "git 'er done" faster than you can finish a plate of Momma's apple pie!

Terrific tool, until it failed and I needed to use the "lifetime" warranty I was promised around three years ago. I even registered the tool, battery, and charger (which I usually don't do), and I was able to find a confirmation email from FLEX. However, they don't stand behind the warranty without a receipt. They said I probably mailed them the receipt back when I registered the purchase. How backwards is that? Don't waste your money, stick with brands that either rarely fail (like Makita), or who stand behind their products when there are problems.
