The fish slid so over this mat. Made it harder to filet.

I do fish often and I have used this several times. Measuring my catch is easy with this and I even used it when an FWC officer came to check our catches on a pier. He liked it too. Im was able to show that I had legal fish. Once I was confirmed I used this to gut my fish and filet them.I do recommend this for your day out fishing.

I have a small bin that I keep my fish cleaning gear in; traditional cutting boards are a pain to pack. This mat is great! It is thick and durable. The bottom doesn't slide and it's big enough for even the occasional lunker I'm lucky enough to catch. It cleans up well and quickly with a kitchen brush then rolls up and fits in my bin. The 'nubs' on the cutting side make it slower to dry than I'd like, but they also provide the traction so that the fish don't slip around while cleaning. All in all, this is a very affordable luxury for your fish cleaning kit. I've had buddies already order some because they saw mine in use. I would recommend.

Full disclosure - I have not had a chance to actually clean a fish on this mat because it's barely out of winter here, but I was excited to find and use this product so I tested it out on some brisket I was trimming. This worked great! It stayed put on the countertop and did not slide around during use, and it really did seem to help with the fatty brisket. It wasn't like it was glued to the mat, but slid around quite a bit less than just on a cutting board that I typically use. I think this will be great for fish, too - I usually use newspapers (or similar) materials to help soak up the water and slime from the fish and try to keep them from sliding around, but those soak through pretty quick. My in-laws have a table, but the fish slide around on that, too, and it really isn't too portable. I like that this is a think rubber-type of material that aids in fileting, protects the surface of wherever you're working, is quite portable and it is really easy to clean. I'm going to get another as a gift for my in-laws and definitely recommend it.

Not as non-slip as they say. Pain in the keister to get clean.
