I bought this for my 2004 Chevy Tahoe because I couldn't find a better deal on it anywhere. The shops I called wanted up to $875 for mystery brand Y pipes that may or may not be as good as the OEM ones from GM. So I ordered this one and had a local mechanic put it in for me. It's just as substantial as the one he replaced and is half an inch bigger in diameter. It also only took him an hour and a half to do the work. So far, I've noticed that the truck has a little more power and with the stock muffler is a little quieter. Which is surprising since it's a Flowmaster part. Provided you are running a stock system this will bolt right in and do just fine.

Installation was easy and it came with all the required gaskets and clamps, if you plan to replace the nuts at the manifold or tailpipe connection you'll need to get those from the hardware store. The large seams on the catalytic converter heat shields reduce the precious little space you have to get to the manifold bolts, which was annoying but not a deal breaker. Also since this doesn't come with a flat section on the cross pipe like the factory unit, you're going to lose a little bit of clearance but again nothing major. The main and infuriating issue was that the flange at the tail pipe end was welded on at an angle, probably a good 10 to 15 degrees off, making a proper seal impossible. I saw this while initially mocking up the installation but hoped really tightening down the bolts would center it enough to seal, no joy, huge leak at that junction.I'm going to try the magnaflow equivalent and hope they have a bit better quality control so I don't have to do this a third time on my back.

I replaced my catalytic converters because of power loss and that rotten egg smell. It's a good thing I went to my mechanic to have this installed. There are no directions for the installation, so some mechanical knowledge is required. The part is a direct fit, but taking out the old catalytic converters required removal of the transmission support and floor protection plates. The supplied round gasket for the drivers side did not fit and the fitting gasket was not supplied, which cost another $34.00. Aside from that, the part worked fine, with increased power, while being a little nosier(which I like).

I spent a few days looking at replacement parts before deciding to make this purchase, So I decided to write a review. During my search I found that even the low end universal fit catalytic converters from your local parts store are near 120+ dollars each or for better quality closer to 200 dollars, not to mention you will have to cut out your old cats and weld in the new universal replacement which for many is not an option or for me was more work then I felt the need to do. My ultimate decision was really based on time over money. I first saw this option on the local part stores website and it was way out of my price range anywhere from 100 to 300 dollars more then I paid for it on amazon. Once I placed my order it was delivered right on time and came well packaged not a ding or scratch on my shiny new parts! As far as the parts them self this was a very easy install, the inlet flanges met up perfectly with the factory headers and the kit even came with new gaskets. The outlet flange was pre studded and met up perfectly with my aftermarket exhaust along with all four o2 sensor holes being well threaded for easy install. As far as performance, the new cats gave my truck a little bit more of a throaty sound and I could feel an increase of power although that may have just been because my old cats where shot! For anyone who is reading this review trying to make a decision on replacement parts I highly recommend this option. In short it was faster, easier and about the same price as buying a couple universal fit weld ins while doing half the work.

It fit fine after my installer cut the pipe thru the welds it had, then he welded it right back on the same place cut. And went on my 06 Z71, and it made my sport corsa exhaust sound like I have a corvette engine in my Tahoe.

Packaging was inadequate as part of the pipe was sticking out of the box. Came with no instructions which i thought would be no problem. No one mentioned having to remove the cross member to get the cats installed. After installing the cats I only had about 1/4" of clearance between the outlet flange and the body of the truck. Installed on 2004 Suburban 5.3 AWD.

Made from a bent jig, tried a 2nd, and changed vendors for the 3rd. Shipped with half the spray in packing, cats were rattling. Reordered, same thing, reordered elsewhere, same thing so i tried to make it work. Minimal cat media inside, likely wont last 35k miles. Disappointed in Flow Master, been using their quality products for decades on trucks, daily drivers and this crap beats all. Had to cut, weld, and fit for 3 hours. Still hangs 2.5" below the trans cross member; will get caught on something and I will build my own next time. Its just not worth the time. Terrible.

Perfect fit. Truck runs better and has more power. Great product!
