Much of our house has ben DIY back for at least 50 years. Getting a nut off of an old toilet was not possible; however I have another one and the screw was too tall anyway, so keeping the old nut, applying the first item, screwing it down, and then applying the cap worked out well.

Easy to install. Wish I could tell you the max length these caps will cover, that’s what I wanted to know when ordering. The bolts on my toilet are about one inch. The caps covered them fine. The most hassle was learning I needed a wrench to take the original nut off the bolt. Once that was done, the assembly was easy and only needed to hand tighten the nuts back down again.The toilet looks so much better with caps!

I ordered two packages of these bolt caps since I have an older style toilet in one of my bathrooms [ 4 bolts to mount ]. BOTH kits had a bottom screw base missing. Why 5 stars? Since the missing parts are not AMAZON's fault I contacted Fluidmaster and received immediate action. I showed them proof that I purchased from Amazon and they sent via FED-Ex replacement parts. In 5 business days I had them and completed the installation. Perfect fit. Easy to do.That people is how customer service should work. Too bad car companies are not as good.

These caps look good and will not get knocked off due tothe base part which you secure to bolt and then you screwthe cap down onto that base. Base and cap are threaded forthis reason. Great idea!
