Folkmanis Black Cat Hand Puppet, 1 EA

"Black Cat" has an amazingly expressive and beautifully detailed face! I know Folkmanis makes a quality product but the impression I got when I first looked at this kitty is that you could use him on a TV show, movie or stellar play!This puppet is for me, a child at heart always, but I can imagine the wonder on an animal-loving kid's face to see this puppet on someone's lap helping out at a book reading, performing in a puppet play or snuggling up in their own little arms. That is how fantastically real, yet just ever so quirkily fantastical, this kitty cat puppet is!Also, if you have pets, be prepared for antics of some sort. My sweet doggie is a blind senior lady who paid this toy no mind, but we have a ragdoll mix that is literally the friendliest cat I've ever met. When I came into the bathroom where Inky was having din-din I had "Black Cat" on my arm and began to meow, popping open the puppet's mouth and cocking its head quizzically. Inky looked up from her bowl and literally goggled the puppet. Then gingerly walked across the counter to check it out. I stayed a little away and kept meowing, did the little "lick my paw, wipe my face" grooming gesture and Inky gawked more and cocked her own head. Then I went around the corner, and at Inky's eye level, played peek-a-boo. Inky would meow and peek and gently bat her paw back and forth with the puppet. Later she saw the puppet on the bed and made biscuits on the bed near it, which I imitated with the puppet and they both made biscuits in kitty-meditative silence for several minutes. It was the cutest thing, and I am curious to see how Inky reacts to the arrival of "Ragdoll" when the shipment arrives!Highly recommended, gorgeous, astoundingly-crafted puppet and fantastic price of 23.99 MSRP, and even less here on Amazon. I've paid twice as much for stuffies half as cool as "Black Cat" without batting an eye-- and they weren't even amazing interactive puppets like Black Cat is. I mean, if you get this, check out the face. The pattern is insane with tons of little pieces/parts I've never seen on a stuffed animal. But there they are and like magic they have been sewn together to really capture the blended essence of a realistic kitty + just the tiniest bit of whimsy kitty. It makes me think of Jim Henson puppets, the quality of the expressiveness and like another reviewer said, this kitty looks a lot like "Salem" from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. That assessment was spot-on! Black Cat really, reeeeally looks like "Salem".Oh, and *my* Black Cat is henceforth to be known as "Jiji", from "Kiki's Delivery Service". I don't have it yet, but when this year's holiday wrapping gets here I will save some satin ribbon to tie around his neck. I rarely write a review but this puppet is amazing. I generally love folkmanis puppets and they stand the test of time, but some are scratchy on the inside or too small, or their mouths don't move... and then some are incredible. This one is not too big and not too small. I can fit my hand inside it and my small 8 year old can use it perfectly. You can easily put your fingers in the paws and lower jaw and make the cat look like it is moving and talking. One puppet that we have is a dragon where I actually have to stretch my hand to manage it and can only maneuver certain parts at a time. Another one of my favorites, the koala, is discontinued. This one is just as good and perhaps (like the goat) the most realistic of their puppets. It really looks like a cat. My child is enamored and I am so happy that I could afford his bliss. When you feel this puppet you feel quality. This puppet look like an actual cat and the face does it justice. Enjoy and I highly recommend!

My now 6 year old and I got hooked on Folkmanis puppets at our local library. We were checking them out so often I decided to buy this for my daughter for Christmas. If you’re not familiar with Folkmanis puppets, they are really lifelike, great quality, and depending on the animal represented, very soft. They are the perfect size for little hands, and big hands too. My daughter can manipulate the puppets better than I’m able so I think they are a better fit for small hands. I have purchased a couple used, because they were a retired and not made anymore, but I’m glad Amazon is selling these ones at a good price so we can continue to add to our collection.

I have had this cat for almost two years now it's an honor to have it is super cuddly and super friendly I sleep with this cat, and I take it everywhere with me even to school this cat has changed my life completely and I recommend it to everyone this cat helped me with my tough moments, and it will forever be my friend.Thank You

Have fooled quite a few people by holding cat in arms, one arm inside to control it's movements.

Cute hand puppet the black cat is realistic and she loves it good quality and easy to use

My daughter took this puppet to Dragon Con as part of her costume. She was able to move it and hold it in a way that about every other person we encountered said "WOW, I thought that was a real cat." It made such a stir she decided to revamp a second costume and use it for a second time down there. It was so much fun watching her and her "cat" trick/scare people. The downsides of this puppet is the fact that it gets super warm super fast and it sheds a TON so take a lint roller and with you and schedule breaks if you are going to use it for any length of time.

Fooled my cats for a little while ! He has become a loving addition to the family and he looks exactly like Georgio, my black cat. He often gets used as a cat pillow and has fooled me a couple of times as l pet his head while looking out of the corner of my eye. Cats love him!

Love this black cat puppet. Extremely well made. I stuck a small sock ball in his head to help pop his eyes more open as this area was somewhat concave and you couldn't see the green of his eyes. Once the eyes are opened up more, it is very easy to make him look animated. Fits my adult hand fine and has many options to manipulate front paws, head and mouth with fingers. Great buy.

Worth every penny! My daughter saved her pocket money and bought him herself. We have a pet black cat at home and due to the realistic features of this puppet we've played a few tricks on friends and family who thought it really was him! A beautifully crafted puppet.
