You have to take the column out so have fun with that. When reinstalling, you might consider losing the lock that rides on the top of this and goes to the shifter. As it wears, it binds and is likely what caused the failure to start with. It's a tiny pin and "L" shaped bit of metal you have to get off anyways. Other than that, this thing works. Last one was good for 30 years, so this one should be good for 30 more.

Part 1 of 2 to fix the ignition in your truck, might as well get both parts right away. I couldn't find this pqrt anywhere else. It went in easy and dis what it was supposed to do afterwards in my 95 f150.

Used on a 1996 Thunderbird. Proper item and fits perfect. Only use Ford parts when dealimg with the ignition switch. Other brands fail quickly. Ask how I know...
