Actual Dimensions of 1-1/4" Size PVC Pipe
Why are PVC pipe diameters larger than their named size?
PVC sizes get their name from the inner diameter of the PVC pipe (not the outside diameter) as they are nominal or 'in name only. If you add the thickness of the wall on each side of the pipe, the outside diameter of the PVC pipe will always be larger that the actual PVC size.

This Furniture Grade PVC pipe will fit inside of standard 1-1/4" Size Schedule 40 plumbing-grade or Furniture Grade PVC fittings. This pipe has an outside diameter of 1.660" or 1-5/8".

These aren't comparable to the regular PVC pipe from the hardware store. They have a nice color richness which does go all the way through the material. They are not marked either. Since these are cut shorter to making shipping affordable - double check that the individual lengths meet your specs.I have a jig on my table saw that enables cutting notches into the ends of these to create a finger effect. I mention this because compared to standard PVC this material seems a slight bit less rigid, i.e. the cut fingers are more willing to flex. This worked out for purposes.Apart from that, if just cutting to length and coupling, these are really nice looking.

Don't get me wrong, this pipe is good quality. It's just very expensive to be able to purchase enough for even a small project. 10 and 1/2 feet is about $32- $33. What I never understood was a restocking fee? You grab the product and put it back on the Shelf. It isn't any different than when you took it down. Also, if this doesn't work for you, you have to pay to ship it back. There are no free returns through Amazon for this product. Just a heads up for everyone. Maybe I'm getting too spoiled having prime?!
