Your cart is empty.Fowler 52-646-220-0 Cylinder Dial Bore Gage with carbide tipped anvils has a 35-160mm measurement range. Bore gages measure holes or bores in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth (within its reach), while internal micrometers can only measure the depth of their contacts. Bore gages are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct measuring. Simple bore gages are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement. In contrast, the more complex gages take the measurement directly and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gages have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gage head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts measure lobing or triangular form error. Fowler, an American company, manufactures premium inspection and measurement instruments like electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and micrometers. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.

it to any others, as this is the first and hopefully only one I will own. I read many reviews of half a dozen _or more, brands/models, and even though this one in imperial measure (inch) did not gather as many high stars as some others, the reasons written either weren't significant to me, or just didn't wash. I kept coming back to this Fowler. I decided on the Metric version; I can convert easily enough, and slow as the United States has been ((pledged to go metric back in the 1970's), eventually we'll be dealing more-so Metric than Imperial. Fowler having CARBIDE Tips was important. It will not measure as small as the Anytime Gauge; the only negative. Before actually using it; I lubed what seemed best suited with Vaseline, the threads and larger diameter sliders; and the finer aspects with 10-30 Valvoline. Read the instructions. Selected an anvil. Tried it. Found I needed a spacer. Used a Stanley brand clamp to a table top, ball swivel, rubber covered jaws, vise to hold the Micrometer. Found a suitable piece of -small- plastic tube in my collection of 'drinking straws' to help keep the anvil of the bore-Gauge and the adjustable anvil of the indicator aligned (quite helpful); just slide a snipped a piece w/ the open end angled so the bore gauge anvil would fall/slide in easily, onto the micrometer anvil.I measured in reverse of normal, as I was using the bore-gauge to find size, not to check size or taper. The Gauge seemed smooth enough to me. Repeated quite well; seemed spot on +/- maybe a needle width. I've machinist back ground, so am used to fine & fussy measurement, but still found a touch of learning curve in finding the sweet spot and holding steady.The box is fine. Will add a piece of elastic (clothing variety) to cover a third of the small spacer washers, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 ; as I think they could be easily lost. ?Epoxy or ?tape the elastic in place.I think it quite worth the money.

Overall a good measuring tool. Easy set up. Mine requires very regular calibration especially in lower temps. Otherwise it will let you know the dimensions of your cylinder.
