Works beautifully as described. Put it on a flattening sled and it performed as I had hoped. Gave a finished surface that needed no sanding.

I used this to flatten a river-table I was making with epoxy and hard maple. The bit had no trouble cutting through these materials and maintained its sharpness.

Nice surface with full pass. Not a true mortising bit because it has no cutter in the center. In order for it to cut down it must move laterally. Cuts deeper at outer edge of circle. Would make nice slots. Cuts with outside tips of blades so it dulls easily.Looks easy to sharpen but my attempt failed miserably. I am generally successful with sharpening drill and router bits

Cuts fast and clean through 3/4 maple ply for cabinets. Very happy.

Even though Freud labels this as a mortising bit, it does a great job with the home-made flattening jig that I built. Used it for five olive wood cutting boards that I made and a six foot long x 12 inch wide hard maple slab. The bit did an excellent job on all of the boards and still cuts like new. Recommended.

I am a novice woodworker and trying to learn new techniques one of which was surfacing some lumber.. I was introduced to the value of good bits vs “3 for a Dollar “ ones at a workshop and why I purchased the Freud 16-106: 1-1/4†(Dia.) Spoilboard Surfacing & Mortising Bit… It is very well made as compared to others i looked at… Well balanced so was able to use my Ridgid 18v Router with no issues… It made very short work of my project so I’m looking for my next project so I can use it again… Very sharp with plenty of material for resharpening , no slipping in my 1/4†collet and the packaging is also a great storage space for it… Give it a try and you’ll be glad you did…

Another superior Freud product. They exude quality. I have been using their bits and saw blades for years. Never once have I been let down. They are still made in Italy and hopefully that never changes.
