Amazon.com

Designed for the serious woodworker, the Freud 99-520 Quadra-Cut - 3-1/2 Inch Dia. Ogee Profile Raised Panel 3/4-Inch Stock Router Bit - 1/2-Inch Shank features a non-stick Perma-Shield coating and Freud's patented Quadra-Cut design for a smoother finish that requires no rework. Quadra-Cut employs four cutting blades, rather than the industry standard of two, allowing you to create raised panels for doors and paneling and produce decorative tops, plaques, and molding. Because it's constructed with Freud's exclusive TiCo Hi-Density Carbide MicroGrain material, this durable router bit is designed to last.

Quadra-Cut Design for a Consistently Clean Finish
The exclusive Quadra-Cut design uses four cutters for a flawless finish. This innovative cutter design works by utilizing two of the cutters for an upward cutting action, while the other two cutters simultaneously cut downward. The result is an amazingly smooth finish that requires no rework.

Produce Smooth Paneling and Decorative Molding
Use the 99-520 Raised Panel Router Bit on any table-mounted portable router that accepts a 1/2-inch shank for creating professional-quality raised panels on doors and paneling, as well as decorative tops, plaques, and molding. The resulting panels will exhibit a glassy smoothness, even when you're tackling cross-grain applications.

The 99-520 features a 5/8-inch carbide height that easily accommodates stock measuring 3/4 inches.

Durable Design with Protective Coating to Resist Heat and Corrosion
Freud equips all of their router bits with their exclusive TiCo Hi-Density MicroGrain carbide for maximum durability and cutting life. In addition, Freud shields their bits from heat, rust, corrosion and wear by coating all of their Quadra-Cut Router Bits with their exclusive non-stick, red Perma-SHIELD coating.

The 99-520 Raised Panel Router Bit is 2-1/2 inches long with a 1/2-inch shank and an overall diameter of 3-1/2 inches. This bit produces a beautiful two-radius design with a large radius of 25/32 inches and a small radius of 5/32 inches for a unique, custom look. Freud cutting tools are backed by the Freud Limited Lifetime Cutting Tool Warranty to ensure customer satisfaction with every purchase.

Very sharp, well balanced and cuts very smooth. for a number of years I have used another Freud bit of the same size to make raised panel cabinet doors. Its done so well I purchased this one for a different profile on on a bunch of 6 panel interior doors (the raised panel). There is virtually no burning (although I am using Alder which is quite soft). Overall, it works as expected. As others have said, due to its large size it does require a variable speed router which should be at least 2.5 HP. Also verify your router table can handle a bit of this large diameter.

This is an excellent bit. I have used it for frame-making so far--what a smooth finish! My only concern is the max speed rating, because my router runs at a fixed 23,000 rpm rate. Since I am running it faster than recommended, I have been making several thin shavings. This has worked fine, although I am still considering a new router with adjustable speed settings.

Works great. Even for a amateur. Used it to bevel oak bathroom doors I built from scratch. Doesn't look like it has been used at all. I recommend it to anyone.

Facing our cupboard doors and drawer faces with a soft flowing edge versus the typical "bead" style. We did not use all of the bit edge and accomplished a very unique and soft curve which very few of our guests have never seen anywhere before....lots of work and time saved by my friends at Freud, thank you.
