This is my fourth rail and stile set and my first from Freud. Why, I am not sure because this is the best one of the bunch! It is smooth cutting and I hqve zero tearout with this set. But what I like the most is you only have to set the fence one time. All of my other sets like this require setting the fence independently for each bit, so this is a time saver for sure.

These adjustable bits (model 99-763 roundover type) are the fix for rail & stile construction. For me, I had to get used to their setup steps and which one to use first. That is important. There are videos on you tube that demonstrate how to setup and use the bits: just search for "Freud rail & stile" on you tube.Since the shims are measured in mm's, not inches, I used a digital caliper. The door panels are not exactly 3/8" (9.525 mm), they are 10.96/32 (approx 8.70 mm). So much for any wood material being standard or uniform in measurement these days. The bits adjusted with a bit of "cut & measure) steps until the panels fit the frame snug as can be without preventing glue up.Freud tech support (Mike) was very helpful and patient with me and even emailed the factory technical drawings of the bits. I need visual aids now after so many years of old fashioned woodworking...I recommend these bits and the other various rail & stile type to all fellow woodworkers, you will not be disappointed.

These milled the rails and stiles well. My only problem was that the plywood I was using was thinner than I could mill the slots. With no shims, the cutter was still too wide so the panel fit a little too loosely, but not enough to be unusable. Otherwise, these worked fine.

It took me 20 or 30 minutes to set the bits up for the plywood panel I was using but I'm very Happy with the results. I'm doing all the doors in my kitchen with this setup using a bosch 1617 on a router table. The process is going significantly faster than I expected and it's pretty addictive.

As a millwork restoration worker I love the versatility of this product. Can be set up for any thickness panel. Smooth cutting bits, no tear-out.

Great set, but my fault that I did not recognize that it is a Round over BEAD profile. I needed a thumbnail, without the extra step in it to match existing doors. I have been using a Freud set for the past 25 years and wanted to get a new on for this project, but I guess I will be using the old ones. I can not even find a replacement here on Amazon for what I have, only the bead set.If this is the profile you want, great bits and price!

Great bit. Kit includes the allen key and shims. Make perfect joints And I mean Perfect with easy setup and minimal tearout. I used it to make 32 mortise and tenons in walnut hope chest. Note the min. stock thickness is 3/4" and if you have 1/4" panels the back of the frame will be about 1/8".

Router bits were shipped in plastic envelope, no padding, bits were loose inside the plastic case, knocking against each other, chipped cutter, and they were used (sawdust present in crevices). Returned and purchased locally.

These router bits worked great. Made kitchen doors and face plates out of maple and turned out great. Nice to adjust the cutter plates to except different sizes of 1/4" birch plywood. Worked great. The only problem was getting the bits out of the plastic storage case for the first time. Bits are 'held' in by a rubber grommet. After trying to pull them out without success, I rotated the bits (with leather gloves) until the grommet let go - then pulled them out. Would definitely order Freud bits again.
