Freud has a good reputation with woodworkers and this bit is no exception. It’s sharp, and it cuts cleanly and accurately with no wobbling or burning the wood. Given that the cheapest no-name brands are only a few dollars less, there’s no reason not to buy quality Freud bits. (And stay away from Irwin!)

I've been using Forstner bits for over 50 years. The Freud bit is one of the sharpest, cleanest bits I've ever used. I think I will stick with this brand from now on.

Freud always makes the highest quality drill and router bits. I buy them and never worry about the quality or well it will perform. A 100% slam dunk.

cut perfect holes in MDF without getting the bottom side tearing out like a spade bit. Perfect for the job

This is the best Forstner bit I have used. Goes through wood cleanly like a hot knife through butter. Recommend highly and will buy this brand again.

I bought a cheap pack from Home Depot to do the bulk work. But then when I needed a 'good' hole, I bought a 3/4" Freud, with the wave / shear cut, and MAN! What a difference! These cut, like a chisel. The others chew and burn, like cheaper countersink bits.I now own a few more sizes of the Freud, but always stop short of buying a set - because I already have the sizes (in inferior bits). I really must bite the bullet and stock my Forstner rack with all Freuds. The only other brand I'd consider would be the more expensive Fisch, which also uses a similar shear design.

I have to install locks in cabinets and desks, tried several brands and most fail after a hole or two on the lovely "wood" called particle board. These are still going strong, fit my guides (some brands were too large). They of course they work on better wood types.

This is a must buy. I've tried cheaper forstners by Ryobi and Maximum brand by Canadian Tire. This Freud forstner makes those look like children's accessories. I get super clean pencil sharpener like shavings from it while the others cut like they are doing slowly shredding the wood

This is how all tools should be made. I had bought some Mastercraft bits onsale and they were pure junk. These cut quickly in comparison and make a nice smooth hole.High recommend, even though these cost significantly more that other bits.
