Laboratory Vacuum Filtration Apparatus

The Fristaden Lab filtering lab flask can be used to separate components or impurities in your solutions. Commonly found in lab for use in chemistry experiments, it can also be used in the workplace or at-home for other projects, including to make e-juice, distilling, concentrate and oils; to filter essential oils and plant extracts; to make soap; and more.

The filtration apparatus is made from tough, heat-resistant borosilicate 3.3 glass designed to withstand strong vacuums. This filter flask can be used with or without an electronic or a manual vacuum pump (sold separately). We recommend purchasing 50mm, 10μm membrane filter paper (not included).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell the filter paper? No, we currently do not sell the filter paper. We recommend purchasing 50mm diameter filter paper. It is widely available on Amazon.com.

Is a rubber hose included? No, a rubber hose is not included with the filtration apparatus. We include a hose with our vacuum pump instead (see next question).

Do you sell a vacuum pump? Yes, we do. Our oilless vacuum pump can pump a fast 10L/ per minute and works well with our filtration apparatuses.

Can I use it with my own vacuum pump? Yes, the apparatus has a universal hose connection and is compatible with most pumps.

My filtration apparatus is leaking, what should I do? Please make sure the clamp and the hose are securely fastened. If it is still leaking, please reach out to us as this apparatus is made from strong materials (boroscilate 3.3 glass and sturdy aluminum) to prevent leaking and to hold a strong vacuum.

When I ordered this, I was suspicious that the product quality would be poor given the fact that the price was less than 1/6th that of better known brands. I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything in the kit was superior to what I'm used to seeing with better known brands. For example, the wall of the filter funnel was heavier than with other products and the top of the funnel had a well rounded top rim that should prolong the life of the funnel. Chipping of the glass at the top edge of the funnel is a common failure mode with more expensive versions. The assembly worked flawlessly without any leakage issues. Leakage is a common problem with products of this type costing much more. I highly recommend this product.

This thing really takes the hassle out of cleaning up from a vacuum filtration. The clamped funnel design is quite clever and versatile, and makes it easy to use a filter paper of a wide range of sizes (or no paper, if you just want to use the glass frit).I often need to clean my frits with strong chemicals, especially potassium hydroxide, in order to get stubborn organic residues out of them. With a normal filter funnel, I always end up doing some kind of weird balancing act to get the stuff to slowly percolate through the frit, but with this thing, I can just put the lower part of the filter upside-down in a beaker and let it soak, which is great.I definitely recommend this if you do a lot of vacuum filtration.

This filtration system is excellent on the whole, but the glass frit can be difficult to clean/unclog.

Everything came intact, didn’t come with any rubber hose to use for the vacuum function. Haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet but will soon but can’t see why their will be any problems!
