I know this receiver is a little old school. It works well and has good range. I actually own two of these receivers now. I had received one with my first Taranis transmitter purchase and I've worn the crap out of that receiver but it still works well. I bought this FrSky X8R Receiver for my newest TBS Discovery drone build and it has been working very nicely for me. It's easy to bind and get setup even if you're just using PPM or SBUS connection with it. It's easy to set Failsafe on it and it gets really good range for me. I would recommend this receiver if your building a larger sized drone in like the 450-500 class.

After many years, I finally updated my old Dynam Skytrainer from the FlySky radio to Taranis, and because it has a separate Gyro (from HobbyEagle), I used this receiver for that plane.Super easy installation; this receiver is not the smallest unit but I had plenty of space in that airplane. 90 degrees separation on the antennas (one vertical and one horizontal) ensures great reception, and I have RSSI alerts on the transmitter. The old plane is flying better than ever now with no more radio signal problems!

Purchased two XR8 for airplane use. I needed the ACCST D16 protocol and Smart Port for flight battery sensor interface. Multiple attempts to bind to FrSKY Horus failed. After some web searches I found that the XR8 ACCST firmware will in some cases not be compatible with pre 2018/2019 transmitters, and that if the transmitter and receiver firmware versions do not match, the RX will not bind. The solution turned out to be simpler than I expected:- Go to FrSky web site download page, select XR8 and history. Look for the 2018 version. Download .frk file for FCC/ US version (not LBT).- Remove mini memory card from transmitter and link to computer using USB adapter. Navigate to Firmware folder- Drag and drop .frk file to Firmware- Re-install card in transmitter- Find the .frk file in the transmitter Open Tx System menu/ Firmware- Link the transmitter smart port to the Rx smart port using a male/ male servo connector- Click on the .frk file in the radio. You should see a reset screen and a progress bar. The flash takes about a minute.- Transmitter will show a success screen if the operation completes. This update/ roll back allowed both XR8 receivers to bind instantly with my older FrSKY Horus transmitter using XJT/ D16 protocol with battery and RSSI telemetry. Initial tests show the smart port voltage readings to be accurate using a FrSKY voltage sensorFour stars for fast shipping and a working product. One star for incompatibility out of the box and a very incomplete manual.-

Shipped fast and is exactly like my other x8R. This is a great little receiver unit if you are running a drone and need a failsafe automation in the event of a lost signal. I really like the Sbus feature for running all my channels off one, simple connection. It makes for a much cleaner build with less wire mess. I have crashed the quad a few times with this receiver and it has never had any issues...seems to be built very tough.

This was supposed to be an easy plug n fly setup, even with knowing I had to update firmware. Even after updating firmware (yes I know my txt firmware and the firmware the rx should be) I have had no success on binding. It keeps showing compatibility issues... don't waste your money.

I have a couple of these and they have been trouble free. Bind easily and work well. I like that it has SBUS output. The antennas are a little fragile, but I 3D print holders for them so it's not really an issue.

Good receiver, but I don't understand why they can't ship it with a close to latest software. It would not bind with the receiver as it came. It had to be upgraded first, just to get it to bind. After that, it worked fine.

Receptor a un precio razonable, de 8 canales, 2,4 GHz, posible hasta 16 canales, tamaño y peso reducido. Funciona estupendamente y es fácil de vincular con emisora.
