About this item

  • One Touch Operation
  • Reducing Oil Changing Time and Expense
  • Eliminate Stripped Threads
  • No More Contact with Hot Oil
  • No Messy Hands or Clothes

Incorporating Fumoto's most compact ball valve, Fumoto's FN series valves are designed to fit cars, light trucks, vans and select commercial engines. These models are equipped with a nipple which allows a hose to be attached for convenient draining. Constructed of forged brass and stainless steel to exacting Japanese specifications, the FN series valves are designed to provide a lifetime of dependable and reliable service. The size of the engine oil drain valve is 14 millimeters - 1.5. Used to drain engine oil with the touch of a finger and eliminates stripped threads. It replaces drain plug for quick, easy, clean oil change. It is also ideal for drawing small sample of oil for oil analysis. Helps to avoid contact with hot oil and prevents hands and clothes from getting messed up. NOTE: The FN series are NOT RECOMMENDED for engines with low ground clearance.

My oil drain plug was leaking after my last change. I thought that maybe the aluminum crush washer had fallen off in the oil drain pan. This was my third oil change on that washer. It is supposed to be replaced at each oil change, but I keep forgetting to go to the dealer and get replacements. I saw the Fumoto oil drain valve on another website and read the reviews there and on Amazon. All positive. Since I had to pull the drain plug out anyway to replace the crush washer, why not install this instead. Future oil changes will be so much neater by attaching a short piece of 3/8 inch I.D. vinyl tubing, and turning the valve. This will release the hot oil into an empty 5 qt. oil container-easy. Shut the valve, change the oil filter, add new oil - BAM!!!!! You're done. The picture on Amazon shows the valve in the open position. When closed, the valve handle would swing to the left and will spring load into the detent preventing any accidental opening. Read options. If you are offroading you can use a spring type hose clamp to secure lever so it cannot be bumped out of it's locked position. I didn't need it on my street automobile - It's very secure.Install is very easy. Use the already installed blue gasket. Remove old drain plug and washer or gasket. Screw in new valve. I used a 6 inch adjustable open end wrench on the flat side of the valve body and placed my hand near the valve as I carefully tightened. Remember, this is a brass valve body - not steel. Tight but not over tight. Be careful if you use a longer wrench. I used the side of the valve and not the nut by the tubing nipple to apply a snug torque - more surface. The valve easily snugs up to compress the blue gasket for a leak free install. The lever may end up in any position and work perfectly.Mine was a little more difficult because I had a leaking drain plug with a fresh synthetic oil change. Cautiously, I unscrewed stock drain plug with right hand, plugged hole and oil with left index finger. Brought new valve up and aligned as best I could, splash, screw 'til finger tight, no more squirting oil !!!!!!!! Clean up with rag and finish tightening with small adjustable wrench. Perfect.Quality product (read description). Amazon product and shipping, excellent. Hope this helps. Oil changes are not that hard, but this will make it easier with a lot less mess. God Bless.

These engine oil drain valves are great! I put one on my old car back in 2008 and after 207,000 miles, I got rid of the car and sadly my Fumoto went with it. It never failed me and was very easy to use. I was initially skeptical because it's not made of steel, but it doesn't have to be. It worked fine in the many, many oil changes I did my self.I would highly recommend this product to anyone who does their own oil changes. I loved the one on my old car so much, I bought this one for my new car. I'm just waiting for the next oil change to install it.Pros:- Heavy Duty - Not steel, but very sturdy.- Great quality - Lasted me over 200,000 miles and was still going strong. Have one with over 120,000 on my wife's car, no issues.- Convenient - Never needed the right sized wrench to change my oil.- No Mess - Putting a hose on the end made it easy to direct the oil into the oil catch container.Cons:- I sometimes would move the release lever the wrong way, up or down, because I couldn't see which way the lever should go because of how it was tightened on my car. Learned not to force it and try to move it a different way.Update ***11/20/2018***Last week when I changed my oil I noticed my Fumoto valve was leaking slightly, about a cup of oil over an oil change. This is the first time anything like this has happened and this is the 4th Fumoto valve I have owned in over 10 years. So, I sent the Fumoto Online Help Center an e-mail via their website asking the procedure I had to go through for a warranty claim. I received a prompt reply from Fumoto employee Andrew asking me for some information about my order so that he could send out the correct Fumoto valve for a replacement. I merely e-mailed Andrew a copy of my Amazon receipt and he mailed out a replacement valve the next day. That was it. It couldn't have been easier.Even though one of my valves leaked, I am a satisfied customer. Customer service was top notch and painless. If I ever need a Fumoto valve on my next car, I will be sure and install one on that car too.

If you change your own oil, you need this. Actually even if you don't you need it. This will keep from stripping out your oil pan. It's as simple as flipping a lever to drain and no more oil down to your elbow.

Makes oil change so much easier and less messy. I've had one of these for every car I've owned, for years. If you DIY, this is a must have. Spend the money you saved by not going to dealer/Jiffy Lube, to make DIY oil change so much easier

I'm so excited that it fits my 2001 Honda Civic LX Coupe. As I'm doing my oil change myself, it will be such an easier way to drain the oil directly to the pan without to risk any splashing everywhere. Now if they could do the same or a no mess system for the oil filter that would be awesome as so far, at least on the Civic, is the most dirty job. My next oil change is in 6000 miles so I have time to get excited about this valve but I sure like the idea and it's been a day and no leaks to be seen. Enjoy!Update: 02/22/16----------------------I just did my first oil change with the Fumoto valve and I have to say that it makes the process so much easier. As soon as I came back from work, I jacked the car up, plug the hose and while the engine was still hot, I drained the oil in a container and let it go. By the time the engine cooled down, the oil was drained and I was able to tackle the oil filter and voila, done!Funny how you can get excited about little things... lol

This valve is really well manufactured and works well, making oill changes or removals from just a teaspoon to a full drain very easy. Be sure to read the manual about not overtorquing the valve into your pan, and use a crescent wrench or open end wrench on the valve body rather than the hex part.If only there were cleaner methods of changing oil filters that mount at angles off of vertical...
