Overall, it does the job at a great price! It came pretty well calibrated, though I did adjust it slightly. The battery door does seem to bulge when the battery is in it.I'd say definitely go it if you're in the market for this price range.

Bought this because my son practices his bass in the house. Works well. Nice digital display with large numbers. Battery life is very good. Been very pleased with it. If you have need for a simple, easy-to-read sound level meter, this one would be an excellent choice.

Very handy piece of kit. I used it to calibrate my home theater settings and discovered that my rear Atmos speakers were way too low.This pointed me towards boosting the external amp that drives them and once I did this, they were hitting reference levels like the other speakers which made the whole soundscape much better.The automatic calibration (YPAO for me) did not catch this and just made the best of what was available. I used this SPL meter to adjust all the YPAO set speakers (7.4.2 configuration) to reference level, after running the calibration and it made quite the difference.I would definitely recommend having one of these to hand for home theater calibration.

Exactly what I was looking for to configure the reference levels of my home theater. I calibrated my brother's setup as well. The important factors needed for home theater setup are all here - c weighted, slow setting, and various ranges. I like that it has a tripod mount as well (just remember to set it up so it's pointing straight up). It would be nice if a case was included, but it's not a big deal seeing how durable the plastic appears to be and having the foam windscreen to protect the mic. A suggestion for future versions would be to allow for a desired decibel rating to be entered in the unit and then having an audible alert, or light indicator, when reached. This would be very helpful when calibrating subwoofers, for example, which may require manually adjusting a volume knob on the sub while leaving the meter at the primary seating location.Next, I'll be having some fun with it to see how loud my atv exhaust is, how loud my drone is, and the difference the baffle makes on my motorcycle exhaust.

Earlier today, received item neatly packaged (and was a sinch to assemble). Item fits perfectly in hand, and display is crystal clear. Under normal circumstances, rating it 5 stars would have been a no brainer.However, on page 6 of Instruction Manual, Calibration Procedures are discussed. It states, "All our products are well calibrated before shipment," but recalibration directions (recommended after 1 year) are very difficult if not impossible to follow/understand.Further, a previously downloaded iPhone app., SPLnFFT Noise Meter registered (quiet room) about 10 dB higher. Was concerned, so played YouTube video, Emma Purrs ~ 55-60 dB.Thankfully, purchased product correctly registered decibels emitted.

I use this for calibrating the sound in a home theatre. Works well for setting and confirming speaker levels. I also use it to set the general sound level when playing movies/shows. The only drawback is the display is not backlit. My theatre room is dark and this would be a great addition to the product.
