This works well for storing everything from food such as rice and flour, pet food to paint and shop needs. Works great with food-grade 5-gallon plastic buckets. I use the buckets to store rice. I buy the rice in 50-lb sacks (cheaper per pound) from a local Asian foods market and then store it in the buckets. The Gamma seal lids can be a little tough to snap onto the bucket all the way around. Using your body weight can help, just be careful if you tend to be clumsy so the bucket doesn't tip over and out from underneath you. The lids provide a good seal for the buckets to keep the rice fresh, and it is much easier to open the lids using the Gamma seal lid rather than trying to pry a regular plastic bucket lid off the top of the bucket. I imagine there are other dry foods you could store this way but you might need to use mylar bags and oxygen absorber packets to prevent spoilage. Check out any "prepper" food storage literature and you will see these lids are frequently recommended.

Here in Hawaii with it's perfect climate it is a paradise for both man and bugs. Had purchased this brand before from a cyber Monday pet website as an ant deterrent for food stuffs. Love the effectiveness of this product but hated the expense of it. With this 6 pack I am able to store even more pasta, flour products and rice using inexpensive 5 gallon buckets from Lowes. They stack neatly and are convenient to get into and out. The double o-ring at the rim and the cover assure it's seal. I filled the bucket with water and turned it over with no leakage. While it is relatively easy to install, once on it ain't coming off. Am having little luck finding 7 gallon buckets but found an idea to cut off the top quarter of a 5 gallon pail and glue it onto the top of another 5 gallon bucket increasing the size of storage. That will be a future project should the bucket itself say crack on the sides or bottom. While I did not need all 6 of the covers I had no problem finding people to share in the cost for the unneeded ones.

Got tired of taking off 5 gal bucket lids so I got these for bulk food storage at home. Now it's really easy to just unscrew the lid and get what you need.Installation tip: you can bang these on with your hand, but use a rubber mallet. Makes the install super easy and it's easier to keep the seal level on the bucket. Bonus: our bucket lids were made in Stow, Ohio!

Fantastic, well-made lid. I will not hesitate to purchase more for storage items.

They are the hallmark but wished they weren't so expensive for plastic.

I just got six and will prob get another six. Some reviews mention the ring is hard to get on, but I just removed the inner lid and it snapped on with a little elbow grease.Another review says you can get them for $2 cheaper at Home Depot. Well, maybe if they have them in stock and I could prob order them for store pick up, but delivery was within 48 hours and it's 20 miles to the big box stores, so it worked out for me.For about $15 total per bucket and lid, you've got something which can stack, store about 25 pounds of flour, is food grade and relatively critter proof. If you had them on a boat, they would certainly float if one got overboard. These would be also be great for contractors with insert trays.

I had purchased some of the Gamma lids before, and they were awesome. They are secure, nearly air-tight, and went on smooth as butter. I had gone and purchases a lot of food grade buckets with the intent of using these lids because they are very rodent resistant.Unfortunately for me, I guess I ordered Gamma2 lids. While looking quite close, these aren't quite as user friendly. I think the diameter of the Gamma2 is between 3 and 5 millimeters smaller. Too small to be able to be put on easily. I wasted over half an hour trying to get one lid on one of my buckets. I still have 3 choices though. My 20 ton shop press, the dirt bucket of my tractor, or more than 400 lb of Olympic style weights to set on top. I am certain it can be forced on with enough weight.I had purchased 2 bundles of 6 but had to send one back due to miscount during shipping. I had high hopes for these with all the positive ratings and my past experience with them, but if you are going to try them, make sure to only buy one until you know it fits. I think someone misunderstood what the definition of Universal means. The dirty lid in the 3rd image is their old Gamma Lid, the clean one is their new Gamm2. I need to see if they have stock of the old ones, because I want to avoid these new ones.

I am very pleased with my Gamma Seal lids. I have owned one of their Gamma Seal pet food containers for several years, which is outdoors and subject to rain and snow, but has yet to show sign of wear and is completely water tight, yet opens easily without fail. I have already put several of my Gamma Seal lids into service and they appear to be of the same quality as the pet food container and I have no doubt that they will last for years. I have no problem snapping onto the plastic buckets and the lids provide a large access opening to the buckets and they open and close with little effort. I will be buying more in the future as the need arises.

I re-ordered lids to replace old ones I've had a long time and used to work great. I ordered six lids and tested three of the six with terrible results. The way I tested was by filling a bucket with about a gallon of water, putting the lid on tightly, and inverting. I tried this with two separate buckets that both sealed with my old lids. All three new lids leaked badly, ranging from a waterfall to a continuous drip. Ridiculous! After looking at the lids carefully, it seems like the quality control in Gamma manufacturing process is now leaving plastic "spurs" in multiple places on the lids, and particularly terrible there are large ridges under the rubber seals. These plastic ridges combined with the lower quality and thinner seals on the new lids prevent them from sealing reliably. Google this and you'll see videos. Anyway these are way too expensive for this disappointing level of quality. Do not recommend.
