tried to thread new needles and broke the thread several times. did not simplify the need to thread needles without ability to see.

They do thread easily. They also have a traditional eye below the "easy thread fork" threading eye. It's basically a split eye needle. The needle case is light weight aluminum. Large enough for MANY more needles. Nice little kit for six dollars. Neat.
