I think they work like they are suppose to, but the cut isn't as clean as my miter saw... this is for wood shoe trim. Used them for a couple cuts but used my miter saw for pretty much the whole project.

I got these to use in a complete home remodeling project and they turned out to be one of those things I didn't know I needed until I used them. They are easy to use, powerful and work with a variety of materials. My first introduction to using them was on quarter round molding and they really sped up the process. Normally my workflow would have been to take a measurement, go to the miter saw, mark the cut, make the cut and bring the cut peace back to the room to be installed, but with the Gartol Miter Shears all that movement can be eliminated. Now I take the stock into the room, cut it where it's needed and install it... what a time saving improvement to my workflow. Adjustments to the cut angle are simple and quick, and the ratcheting action makes cutting most materials easy. The interchangeable anvils make getting clean cuts a smooth process for materials that fit into the jaws, and the ratcheting action and soft ergonomic grip make them comfortable to use. The only complaint I have is that they didn't come in a fitted case. A tool as nice as this with accessory pieces could really use a case for storage and transport.I would never have got one of these except that I saw a professional builder using a similar tool to install quarter round in a new home construction and it was so quick and looked so easy to use. Such a clever tool that really improves workflow, not to mention eliminating the dust and cleanup created by a miter saw. So glad to have seen this type of tool used by a professional or I would never have thought to get one. Two thumbs up or 5 stars as it were.

For the record, this is my first pair of miter shears, and now I have them, I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the quality of cut they can produce. I went and got some popsicle sticks to test this out with, and WOW, it made fantastically clean cuts, much cleaner than I probably would have expected. Setting the proper angle, you could easily make just about any angled shape with this, quickly and easily. There are cheaper versions of this tool (non-ratcheting), and having started out with the ratcheting version, I can tell you that it's definitely the way to go in terms of ease of use. I found cutting small bits of wood pretty effortless.I also love that it comes with different jaws (anvils) for different materials, from angled trim to small PVC pipe. It's literally the tool I never realized I needed until I had it in my hand, and now I'm like, why didn't I just buy one of these 20+ years ago?And while I'm otherwise unexperienced with miter shears until just now, I AM experienced with tools in general, and one of the "stand-out" features of this that appeals to the "tool guy" in me is the removable and sharpen-able blades. That means a few quick strokes on my diamond hone and I'm back in business. AND it comes with an extra blade, so you can always keep one sharp and ready, and one in use. Being able to maintain a tool means that tool will have a long life, and will remain useful long past the time the blade goes dull the first time. So, while it may be a few dollars more than some units, my "spider tool sense" tells me that spending a few more dollars on a higher quality, serviceable tool, can be money well spent.My only complaint? Like others, I'm a bit saddened by the lack of any kind of proper storage case. You can keep it in the flimsy plastic thing it comes in, I suppose, but a properly designed case for this tool, even a soft case, would be preferable. I'll probably seek out some kind of small semi-rigid case from somewhere to keep it in.In all, I 100% recommend it. It's very well made and it certainly works beautifully, I was very impressed with the quality of cut it produced. It would be nice to include something of a case, but there are worse things in life than having to find a storage solution, lol. 4 stars.
