For the price including the butane, you can't beat it. If you try searching for just the butane, you will likely pay more for the four cans WITHOUT the burner. I will likely keep it handy for those emergencies when the electricity goes out. You gotta have something to boil water for coffee, heat up some canned goods... Comes in a sturdy enough case to toss in the car for those camping trips. I just tested to see how fast a liter bottle of water boiled and it was less than four minutes to a rolling boil. That is fast enough and good enough for me. A friend of mine is still on his first can of butane and he goes camping quite often. These cans are kind of hard to find locally but I have only looked at the big box stores. Four cans will get me through any emergency though. Great deal and great seller. Shipped and arrived quickly and I recommend it for those needing a "just in case" backup burner.

Bought this for camping but have to tell you it's a fantastic backup for natural disasters and remote cooking. It's compact and easy to use. Butane cartridges are as cheap as $1/each locally but even at $2 each online shipped it's not a bad investment. You get a good 2 hours on each can so while it's no permanent replacement for cooking it's a far easier solution than building a fire. Carrying case is average but functional and bottom line is it's great value. If you cook indoors please open windows but it can be done. 8/10 stars for me.

I am the Village Tinsmith in a recreated 1870's village. I bought this single burner stove to heat my old fashioned soldering irons so that I can solder my wares in the traditional manner. For the larger irons there were not quite enough BTU produced to adequately heat the iron to my liking. However this burner works beautifully with my smaller, 1# iron. It is small and compact, and extremely easy to operate. Once I build an enclosure for it I think it will look quite authentic. Plus, I only paid about $25.00 for this unit rather $400 -$500.

I own this stove from another seller. I liked it and needed one more. The new stove arrived with its enclosure broken in half. I was concerned b/c the use of a damaged gas stove may cause an explosion or fire. I, therfore, informed the seller accordingly. The seller gave me run-around. It eventually become easier to trow the product away. I decided to buy a different product from another seller b/c it is difficult to buy non-expensive butane canisters for this particular stove type in these days. I, however, like the original one. Thus, i would stay away from this particulkar seller and make sure that you would not be served better by a stove using readily available propane canisters.

I used this on a two night, three day camping trip. found it easy to use and set up.I use a super cheap wallyworld cook set that didn't hold up, but the stove was able to boil water and cook food for myself. The case was cracked when I got it but as long as the stove work, wasn't a issue. The stove its self kinda felt flimsy and cheap, but I wasn't throwing it around or anything rough. I never use Butane to cook before, and it wasn't different for propane. I am still one the first can of Butane out of the four that came with it.Stove cool down was fast so I could put it away without worrying about fire or melting. cooking for more than one or two people might have issues, but I found it quite handy for what I needed it for.UPDATE: 2014Stove still running strong, and still on the first can of Butane. No problems as of yet. Does need some type of wind guard on it, last camping trip was very windy at time, and flame did get blown out.

Maybe it's the paint on the stove that's burning off- whatever it is, it's noxious. I have a japanese version that burns clean, no smell, right out of the box. So- I barely use it. :(

Bought as a gift. nice little package gives one everything needed to cook outdoors. well you will need a lighter....a pan, and food. :)this camp stoves are very nice for a variety of cooking while camping or at home, work ...wherever. i've used car camping, river trips, roasting coffee in the backyard and making coffee curbside! great for cooking stinky food outside so you don't stink the house up. the butane canisters can be found locally at Asian markets for cheap.

Two very not good features about this that happened the first time I used it.1. It scorched the surface underneath the stove. Good thing it wasn't flammable!2. The plastic feet melted. I replaced them with metal bolts. And, for anyone wanting to know: yes, the butane was installed correctly. Yes, I followed all instructions. Yes, everything was well ventilated (used it outdoors). Yes the burner was on properly. And yes, I only had it on high about 20 minutes. So, I would urge anyone purchasing to place this on a surface that they don't care about and that will not ignite. And I would urge them to replace the feet with something that doesn't melt. Other than all of that, it works fine and I use it at least once per week.
