Besides the milky red switches, what other types of switches does Gateron offer and what are their characteristics?

As a well-known switch manufacturer, Gateron has introduced many popular types of switches. In addition to the milky red switches, there are several common Gateron switches:

Gateron Blue switches: These are clicky switches with a distinct actuation point and audible click. They have a light keystroke, suitable for typing or situations where silence is not a priority.

Gateron Brown switches: These are tactile switches that strike a good balance between light touch and actuation. They have a quieter sound compared to blue switches and are suitable for a mix of typing and gaming scenarios.

Gateron Black switches: These are linear switches with no actuation point and no noticeable sound. They have a higher resistance, suitable for users accustomed to a more forceful keystroke or who want to avoid accidental keypresses.

Gateron Yellow switches: These are also linear switches with a medium resistance between the red and black switches. Yellow switches have a smooth feel and are ideal for those who like a linear feeling but want a swifter touch.

Gateron Green switches: These are clicky switches similar to the blue switches with an actuation point and audible click. Compared to blue switches, the green switches have greater resistance, making them suitable for typists used to a stronger keystroke force.

Each type of Gateron switch has its unique characteristics and uses. You can choose the appropriate switch type according to your needs and preferences.

I have built over a dozen keyboards and these are my new go-to switch. They are thoughtfully packaged and arrive without pin damage like some that ship in tubes. The price point is very reasonable compared to past purchases with other manufacturers. Highly recommend.

I guess I can finally stop trying non-clicky or non-tactile switches. I just don't get them. That said, these are some very nicely built switches, and are buttery smooth and have a decent weight to them, if that's your thing. I'll stick to my Box Navys for now (at least until they come out with something heavier and louder!).

Gateron makes great budget switches. This is fantastic for someone who wants something a little nicer than basic red switches. The operation is smooth and all the the pins came straight. So give these a shot.

These are nice lines switches but they don’t come pre-lubed. It’s too easy now to get factory-lubed switches. I replaced them with the newer, pro version of the same switches that come pre-lubed.

This review is for the Tugeta Gateron Milky Red Switches for Mechanical Keyboard Silent Tactile Keyboard Switches 5 Pin Milky Yellow Linear Mechanical Switches 45gf.I have five mechanical keyboards and I enjoy comparing the feel of different types of switches. I compared these Gateron milky red switches to Gateron red switches, and to my taste the milky red switches are superior. Unless I'm mistaken more force is required to actuate the milky red. I often rest my finger on a key while thinking and it is all too possible to get a pageful. The switches arrived well packed in a sturdy storage box. Other suppliers have sent keyboard switches all jumbled together in a plastic bag, invariably resulting in bent pins. The tactile response of keyboard switches is quite subjective and someone else might not be as enthused with milky red as I. Still, in my opinion, five stars.

So I recently got my first hot-swappable mechanical keyboard for my birthday (thanks Mom and Dad), and I've been having a lot of fun trying out various switches. The verdict is still out when it comes to what type of switch is my favorite however, because I like different aspects of both linears and tactiles. I do plenty of PC gaming, which these are perfect for, but I also cannot deny how nice it feels to type on a good set of tactiles. So yeah... decisions, decisions. After trying out these Milky Reds, I have some thoughts about them, both positive and negative, but mostly positive. Firstly, these are great, great switches for gaming. They have very light actuation at only 45gf, which basically means there's a bit less resistance on every keystroke you do. It might not sound like much, but over the course of a long gaming session, these are less likely to fatigue your hands. Also, I think they sounds amazing to type on. I wasn't a huge fan of the original Gateron Reds in terms of sound profile, but the Milky version is much improved upon. They have a nice, subdued clackiness that is very pleasing to my ears. For the negatives, these switches are very light, which has affected my accuracy a bit. I think with time, I'll get some of it back, but I do have to retrain my brain in order to type with a lighter touch. Also, I'm not a fan of the way Gateron designs their switch housing. With all my other switches, they're easy to install and easy to remove. With Gaterons however, they have annoying locking tabs that need to be pressed in order to release them from the socket. I didn't know this at first, and I completely ruined one of my Milky Red switches while trying to remove it. But yeah, these issues are fairly minor, and aren't enough of a problem that they would warrant a removal of a star from the overall score. The price is good, they're a joy to game on, they sounds great, 5/5 stars.

I go back and forth with my preference for linear versus tactile keys, but ultimately I tend to go back to reds for my main keys due to the overall sound. I replaced the just-ok reds that came with one of my keyboards with these and do prefer these gaterons if ever so slightly. The milky reds have a little bit better springback and the sound is a little more satisfying, as well. For $15, these are a solid value for anyone looking to play around with something new.
