Gates Racing has been a maker of great products for quite a while and this is no exception. This belt for my 2000 Lexus GS300 (2JZ-GE engine, This belt works on the vvti and non-vvti versions of this engine) arrived on time, and installed just fine. While it is quite flexible, spreading this belt by increasing the area between each tooth is just about impossible. A good thing for a timing belt. This belt felt quite a bit stronger than the factory belt, but the factory belt has been in service for 12 years and 90K miles.

This thing is a beast!I recently had to change out my cam seals on my IS300 and while I'm at it I might as well do the entire thing since I'm at 220k. As you may know you'll need a lot more parts than just your cam seals or if your just doing your timing belt for that matter. You want to be sure you get your new belt tensioner, tensioner bearing, and possibly your water pump if you haven't swapped it out already. When I say this thing is a beast, I meant it. I swapped out my timing belt twice already and the other ones can be stretched just that much to get it over the bearing and in place. This one doesn't even want to think about flexing. Which means it's going to stay where it is for a long time. I had to place the timing belt in place and then slide the bearing in, bolt the bearing down, bolt up the belt tensioner, and release the bolt tensioner pin. FYI, if you don't know how to replace a timing belt, leave it to the pros. Anyways, for the DIY guys, mark everything and count the teeth between the cam gear TDC markings and make sure the new belt has zero slack on the right side between the intake cam and the crank. When I say zero slack, I meant I had to fit the teeth on the crank gear for a perfect fit. Once its on, I rotated the crank shaft clockwise to triple check the markings still lined up exactly at the 60 degree mark before putting everything back in and torqued correctly.Anyways, this belt has been on for maybe 300 miles and it's great knowing that it's not going to stretch on me anytime soon. I'm sure I'll hit the 300k mark with ease.

Made in USA, nothing much else to say about it. Looks like it is good quality and fit right on the 2JZ.

Installed this on an IS300 as it is slightly modified and see's redline daily. A bit more difficult to install than a normal belt as it is tighter, but I slid it on with the roller tensioner and then ensured timing was set correctly, worked perfect.
