Excellent kit! Included everything shown, plus a small tube of Loctite, understandable instructions, and a spacer for the timing belt guides that came in super handy! The only other thing they could have included was a cheapy special tool to hold the driver side cams in place. Could have one molded in plastic like the guide spacer that would slide between the teeth. (If you have done this job, you will know what I mean..) Other that that, almost a perfect kit! All the parts looked high quality and fitment was spot on. I chose the kit without the water pump and bought a factory pump. After 105K, and no leaks or noise the OE pump is a trooper, and not very expensive. Fit my 2005 Legacy GT Wagon 5MT.

Shipping came fastI started this install with a buddy of mine, and it took us a total of 2 hours or less.Everything came packaged very nicely. During the whole install of everything in this kit, we ran into no issues of fitment what so ever. Everything lined up perfect. The bearings on all of the pulleys are very nice and smooth. The tensioner holds very nice tension with out and sloppyness. It has been about 10k miles after the timing belt kit install, and i have not had an issue with these parts yet. I don't think ill have an issue with these parts either, considering its GATES for crying out loud. I have been using Gates for a while, and they are the only company i trust for a reason. This kit comes with absolutely everything you will need to do your timing belt besides the water pump. I recommend to buy a matching Gates water pump as well. Thats what i did, and that lined up perfectly and works perfect as well. This kid also comes with the tool to help you with making sure your belt is spaced right.

EDIT: note that my original review (below) reflected what was sent with this kit at the time of my purchase. two years later, buying a gates kit for another subaru, i was disappointed to learn that the genuine, exactly-the-same-as-the-dealer tensioner and pulleys have been replaced by chinese-made no-name parts (pulleys) and a canadian-made tensioner (that the newer reviews all pan as causing noise and belt-slippage) i can no longer recommend this kit. you can, however, source the individual identical-to-dealer parts here on amazon at a discount, so my suggestion is to do that instead of buying this product, which, sadly, is no longer any good.perfect fit, which is to be expected, since all the pulleys/rollers (except the smallest one) were exactly the same as those they replaced. I don't mean that they were the same shape or the same quality, I mean that they were the same exact items, from the same exact manufacturers, with the same exact part numbers as those that were on the car. as multiple people have said below, the smallest idler pulley was not identical to what was on the engine, and taking a chance on it doesn't make any sense -- buy the dealer part for that one, as well as the water pump (it just makes sense to replace it, since you are in there, even though most dealers will not do this as part of their service, since they claim that Subaru water pumps never fail), as the pumps sold with this kit are suspect (see other reviews).no issues installing this (they even give you a gaping tool for the belt guides that was very helpful), and it's been about a year, and absolutely no issues since. this was the first gates kit I used (>5 timing jobs on various subarus), and I won't go back to the dealer for the parts for this -- for the cost of just the belt you get the whole kit, which takes the guess-work out of whether you need to replace the pulleys/idlers (you should!).

This kit was great for the 2009 subaru Forester XT, and saved me so much money over paying a shop to take care of it. I used a cam-locking tool from Company23 to hold the driver-side cams in place, but I've heard of other workarounds with pliers and/or bolts. The belt was awesome, had markings to line up with several spots in the timing pulleys so you can be sure everything is lined up right. You should replace the two other belts, thermostat, and water pump while you're in there. Watch some youtube videos, write down the steps, check them off during disassembly, and re-check them during reassembly. I also purchased a 3-day subscription to the Subaru tech manual site and downloaded the PDFs for all the jobs I thought I might do; totally worth the $40. I'm an automotive novice and if I can do it, you can too. Ended up saving a couple hundred $$, and gained knowledge, experience, and pride in a weekend project. Make sure you get a replacement bolt for the crank pulley as it's a stretch bolt; I was lucky and was able to run to the subaru dealership that's only a few blocks from my house and they had them in stock. Anyway, go for it, you can do it

I was told on the forums to search "timing belt" find the one that say "Gates" and buy it. Glad I did.First off the idlers (since this go on first) much higher quality than OEM (in my case Subaru WRX). The OEM idlers had bearings that were half of the pulley. The Gates ones were full length. This caused a small issue with the small diameter one as it required a longer screw (about 1/2 inch longer on the WRX) I was a bit disappointed the kit didn't come with this 79 cent part, but I had the right one in my bins of hardware. The kit came with thread locker thought, a nice touch if you don't have any. The best part however was that the belt was marked with the timing pulley positions. 51 teeth from crank to right intake timing mark, 28 from intake to exhaust timing mark etc. This was a huge help, and as I said it what you get from buying quality. On an interface engine like mine your timing belt is the most costly part to go bad. Having a kit like this not only made installation easier, but knowing the parts were better than OEM lets you sleep at night.I'll buy again without hesitation.

Product overall is excellent, this one however came without lines on belt to assist in catching timing on unit, it normally has it not sure what happened this time around hence 4 stars.

Awesome product. Please look up DOCH Suabru timing belt install on YouTube. It would have saved me 5 hours. Also invest in the Subaru cam tool or needle noise vice gripes to hold the left side cam gears in line

In the picture you can see Koyo and NTN bearings, but what I received was chinese bearings. Only tensioner and belt are japanese parts.

comes with "new style" idler bearing which is larger in the center (bearing) and requires a new bolt of the same type but roughly 10 threads longer, other than that, great kit.
