Like many who read this, I spent time looking at the various cases - and really liked the way the Fender tweed cases looked. They were on the expensive side - around $150. And, I finally noticed they weighed around 13 pounds. 5 layers of plywood. The cheaper versions caught my eye - they were much less, are made of 3 layers of plywood, and the reviews indicated 'they are more protective than a gig bag'. Great. Then I started thinking that what I wanted to do was to protect the guitar - and would likely spend little admiring the nice tweed fabric - which apparently is very susceptable to dirt and wear. I noticed the Gator case. Seem them. Seemed to be very strong and extraordinarily protective. If I want to protect it, maybe this was the case. I noticed one of the reviews which complained the storage compartment was open - so I hesitated. The more I looked at the pictures the more it seemed the lid would fit over that part, making it secure. So, after a few weeks of looking here and elsewhere, I ordered a Gator case. It arrived on the 5th day - as did everything else I ordered. Opened the box - which was large - and took out the packing and the case. Its made of very thick plastic and a nice grain pattern - has Gator Case on an inset piece. Has 3 of what looks like very heavy duty latches and the type of key lock used on airlines. The inside is molded with a plush fabric covering - probably sprayed on, but certainly more than sufficent to protect the finish of a guitar. It is made so that the guitar body fits against the side preventing movement - its not crushing, it fits. The neck goed into a padded indentation. And the two storage areas are on each side of the neck. I put some picks and strings in one side, and a strap in the other, closed and latched the case - then first carried it as you normally would, put it on its end - did not hear any shifting. Checked. Nada. Closed it back up and actively shook it in every way and orientation I could. Opened it back up - and nothing had shifted. The guitar was in place. None of the picks had migrated as the lid does indeed seal off the storage compartments. You cannot crush the case by standing on it - and I weight 200 pounds. If you want to protect your guitar this is unbeatable. Looks good. And is less than half the cost of some of the wooden type cases - and comparable to the low end wooden ones. But this is a far superiour product.

I purchased two of the Gator GC-ELECTRIC-A cases because I needed storage for my two Tradition Jerry Reed signature model “T†style guitars. I chose this particular case for the looks, style and price. I have owned a couple of these cases in the past and they did prove to be worthy. The quality is what I have come to expect from Gator although I was not impressed with the factory packaging. The fit is as advertised and the seller’s performance was excellent. Both of the Tradition guitars I put in these cases fit perfectly. Both guitars are 39 inches long from the lower end of the body to the top end of the headstock. Both ends do touch but the guitars lay in very easily without being forced.Going on the pretense that nobody cares how many guitars I have just allow me to say for the benefit of others that all my Stratocasters are also 39 inches long and fit very nicely. My Telecasters are all 38-1/2 inches long and easily fit of course. As far as width goes all guitars mentioned fit like they should and do not rattle around.Just per chance someone may want to know this case fits my PRS SE Custom 24 and my Rickenbacker 620 like a glove.I found no misaligned hinges or latches. I found no fumes from adhesive and no faults in the plush lining which is adequately padded for a case in this price range. Is there a down side? Depends on how you look at it as this is a very lightweight case and some may equate that to being flimsy but it is not. Both of these cases weighed in at 8-1/2 pounds and appear to be quite sturdy. You may find a case that is twice as durable but you may also pay twice the price. I would be doubtful these cases would stand up to rigorous touring and being tossed around by roadies but for simple storage and protection in the studio or a short trip to a jam session they are fantastic. For the price you pay you get a very nice place to store your guitar!

I actually own 3 of these. Holds a strat or tele guitar really nice. It's not too heavy and feels sturdy. I probably wouldn't trust it on a flight but looks fine for everyday use.

The case is very well made and is well worth the price. The outer casing is very strong, the metal joining the two sides together including the hinges is of a high quality and isn't cheap and tacky. The inside protects the guitar very well, it has a soft fabric that the guitar can sit on and it will protect the guitar well. The shape of the inside is shaped to fit an electric guitar so it's secured into position as you travel. There is also two slot on the left and right of the guitar neck where you can store additional items, i've got my main guitar lead in one, an MXR pedal in the other can i have another guitar lead in the same slot as the MXR. Perfect fit.You can store you picks or anything in there and it's secured in.I leave a bag of picks in the guitar section. The only point of criticism which is only very slight, depending on how your using your case is the lock. The lock isn't the best lock in the world. There are latches which hold the sides together which are very well built and the center latch is the only one with a locking mechanism. The lock could easily be forced open but no one is really going to do that if your in the same room as your guitar so the lock will do it's job. Hence 5 out of 5 stars.
