I was surprised how difficult it was to find a doorbell with two push buttons. The trend seems to be ones with multiple receivers, but only one button. I guess that’s because a lot of people don’t have front and back doors anymore. But there doesn’t seem to be much logic to someone living in a house large enough to need multiple receivers shopping for a twenty dollar doorbell.Having no luck in the retails stores I turned to Amazon and found hundreds of no name options to choose from, some of them very oddly designed and not very good looking. I don’t use music as my ringer tone on my phone and I’m not big on using The Charge of the Light Brigade when someone rings my doorbell. So the limited number of sounds this one is capable of is just fine, more importantly they sound full and loud and not tinny.Of course when you use a doorbell at your front and back door you need to have a different tone for each. This one disappoints a little in that they missed the obvious of having the traditional ding dong for the front and just a simple ding for the back. There is no option for a single ding. But they do have an okay sounding knock knock sound which is the one I use.Second to ding dong the second most popular doorbell sound in America is Westminster chimes. Not my favorite choice because it is too pretentious and I don’t want to have a 20 second song playing when someone is at my door. But nevertheless if that’s your choice you will find that this one sounds very similar to a mechanical doorbell, including the echo delay effect. The indoor unit is relatively attractive and can be painted over if you’re careful. The outdoor push buttons look like real doorbells so your guests know what they are. Of course the buttons are not illuminated because they are battery powered.I mentioned the volume earlier. Having pets a very loud doorbell is actually contrary to my needs so I can’t say if it would be loud enough for a hard of hearing person. I have mine set to the lowest volume and I can hear it throughout the house. I only wish that the manufacturers would use a simple rotary volume control dial instead of a four position push button that you have to cycle through. My choice for volume is usually somewhere in between their preset options.THINGS TO KNOW1. Unlike any doorbell I’ve ever seen, if you want to change the ringer sound, don’t look for a button on the indoor doorbell unit. There’s none there. Instead, you have to go outdoors and pry the cover off the button unit where inside you will find a tiny button that you have to press to change the ringer tone.2. Changing the ringer tone takes a lot of patience. You have to cycle through each and every tone until you get to the one you want. To make matters worse, each time you press the tiny programming button you have to listen to the entire medley or sound effect before it will let you move on to the next one.3. If you want to change the volume you’re supposed to ring your own doorbell then immediately press the volume button on the indoor doorbell unit. Of course if you’re working alone that’s impossible. There is a trick that you can press the sync button on the indoor unit then immediately press the volume button. As above you have to cycle through each volume setting until you get to the one you want.4. Similar to many once famous brand names like Kodak and Polaroid, the use of the GE name is only a licensing agreement. GE doesn’t make this doorbell and has nothing directly to do with the product. It is made and sold by Jasco with permission to use the GE logo.5. Speaking of logos, one of my pet peeves is when companies put huge logos right on the front of their product so after you buy it you’re giving them free advertising forever. Kudos to this company, the brand logo is so subtle you can hardly see it even from right up close.6. The indoor unit is heavier than most doorbells because it uses three C batteries. I suggest trying to attach at least one of the included fasteners into a wall stud so it doesn’t fall down.

it’s small, much smaller than the one we were replacing. there are few options available without hardwiring or plugging in a receiver using an outlet. This was easy to install & reasonable in price. it paired perfectly out of the box. 2 choices of tones, westminster and ding-dong. i just need to know if someone’s at the door. it allows you to choose the volume level, which is nice so it doesn’t make my dog crazy. it’s a simple product that does what it’s supposed to do. a fair price. Hopefully it’ll work well and last awhile. currently we’re happy. a less is more scenario. i’d recommend based on our short ownership.

This is by far, the easiest wireless doorbell system that I have ever used or seen. The main unit requires 3 x "C" sized batteries and the unit itself can be placed anywhere. No plugging in required. Each of the 2 wireless door buttons comes with a flat "2032" battery (think watch battery) that slots into the easy to open casing. The button casings can be mounted on your door frame (or otherwise) by way of either a SUPER adhesive foam stick pad or with the screws provided. I just used the foam sticker backings and there is little doubt in my mind that these stickers are not letting go - for anything! The best part of this system, is without question, how easy it is to set up but also, how easy it is to customize (to some degree). This particular system has 8 preprogrammed sound bites for the "doorbell" sound of your choice. The beauty of this system is the fact that unlike other systems that I have used, this one does not require the moving of jumpers on the main board inside the main housing to select your sound. This system allows you to choose your preferred sound bite by way of pushing a small button inside the push button casings themselves and not the main unit. Each push of that little button allows you to "scroll" through the 8 sound bites and when you hear the one you like, you simply do not push it again. What is really nice as well, is the fact that each of the two buttons can be programmed with their own sound bite, allowing you to distinguish from two separate doors, if you wish. In fact, with this system, you can run up to 4 individual buttons and sounds at one time or any combination of "grouped sounds". It's so simple and more than just a little flexible. The only points that I was not impressed with is the fact that it is nowhere as loud as my early 90's era doorbell, even at it's loudest of 4 possible volume levels. These levels can be chosen by scrolling through them with a single button, found on the top of the main unit. Don't get me wrong, it makes itself heard but if you are a floor up or down from where the main unit is located and you have a moderate background noise present, you may not hear it as readily as an older model. Sounded quality is neither as clear or as rich as my older unit but it is not at all, a deal breaker. It simply sounds like it is a poorer version of what used to be years ago.The literature claims that the wireless communication between push buttons and the main unit is 150 ft. Neither of my 2 buttons are that far so I can not comment but unlike many reviews of other units that I have read before settling on this one, my 2nd button is 60ft from the main unit and the signal has to go through 4 walls including steel, concrete and a wet wall. That button works flawlessly and without a delay - everytime.Volume and sound quality being what they are, I was not even close to returning this unit. It works well and was so easy to set up with decent quality parts, I saw no better value when I was searching and I don't believe I could have done any better than I have for the price.I have no hesitation recommending this one. It's a good buy.
