This Gearkeeper can be mounted on your BC two different ways, a threaded pin or a snap clip. It also has two ways, a split ring or a lanyard, to attach your scuba device to the retractable line. The provided hardware allows flexibility to where the Gearkeeper is placed on your BC and what you may attach to the retractable line. I use the Gearkeeper to hold a mini flashlight but it also can hold a computer console to prevent unwanted dangling. Basically the Gearkeeper streamlines the positions of your equipment on your BC and allows for easy access when that piece of equipment is needed.

My wife and I clip these to our BCDs to retract our guage consoles. We've been on several dives and they work great.

Keeps my pressure gauge where it needs to be. The retract works well. Seems to be good quality.

24 ounces is way too much tension for a scuba console. When you let it go, your console is going to slingshot to the next zip code. Also, I suspect that if you use the pin mount, that much pressure will shred whatever you have it mounted to. The pin mount could not be screwed in very far before it started moaning in agony. Defective? I'll send it back and try out the 9lb, 32 inch version.

DO NOT trust the threaded stud (combo) version. I have two of these, and the standard snap clip is way better. I used the threaded stud for the first time today and it failed on my first dive of the day! The threaded hole ripped out of the back of the keeper while looking at my console. Garbage!
