I also have a 1/4" socket set, 3/8" socket set, and convinced my job to get the combo case.Tools have great quality and live through lots of dropping and abuse. Lowest issue is the cases are cheap. I have had to bolt the hinge after they break. And trim your own foam insert from drawer mats. I haven't ever had a plastic case that I've be happy with, so no stars off. Tool itself is 5 stars.

Handy set for many awkward access bolt & nuts. Works like a super short socket set.

Top nut on struts, the only wrench that will work. Should also be great for top shock bolts while holding the center rod.

I find these pass through sets good for limited clearance nuts and bolts. They are shorter than a standard depth socket on a conventional ratchet but give you a little more offset than a ratcheting box end wrench. Just works better sometimes. The ratchet head is slim and doesn’t have a huge amount of back drag, but it does feel like it has more than their 120xp ratchets. I consider it a fair tradeoff for possibly improved access.

I will start off by saying what i dislike the most about this set, nothing is interchangeable in any way with any other tool brand, as opposed to harbor freights Pittsburgh brand pass threw sockets that can fit into any standard 3/4" spline drive. Then next thing i like the least , is that the gear wrench sockets, and extensions do not lock into the ratchet, and dont fit all that tightly. I have read that some say they fit very tight, and are hard to get out, i would actually rather that be the case, in my set i feel like they could too easily fall out when i don't want them too. Leaving me looking for a lost socket some where in my engine compartment. I used them to replace all the components of the cooling system of my truck, and during that process, i noticed that there were many instances when i was working with bolts that were already loose that there was no ratcheting action at all because the bolt does not have enough resistance. This is normal for all ratchets , however on these there is little on the back or even on the socket to hold on to to help them out.All this being said, they ate very nice tools, the fit into tight places like no others will, there is no need to worry if the socket is deep enough, and they have a very short click, less then 5 degree. Also i found that the variable angle adjustment super handy, and i love that it locks into place! They also seem to grip the bolt or nut head tighter then my craftsman set, and i think they would work better on slightly damaged or frozen bolts, with less chance of rounding off the bolt head.So all in all, i would say they are an amazing supplement to your standard traditional sockets, but they might not be a good choice as a replacement only, you may need to have both in many cases to get the job done properly.

Got my set in a few days ago and just used it today to take apart a riding mower. The flexibility of the ratchet alone makes up for the limited sockets you get. BUT IF YOU HAVE A CRAFTSMAN MAXX ACCESS ( HOPE I SPELLED THAT RIGHT ) SET THAT IS SIMILAR, YOU CAN USE THOSE SOCKETS WITH THIS SET! I BOUGHT THIS SET HOPING THEY WOULD WORK AS MY 3/8 DRIVE RATCHET IS BUSTED IN MY CRAFTSMAN SET. Between the 2 kits I took every manageable nut/bolt out that didn't need a impact to remove! Only complaint is wish the kit had more sockets and offered a 1/4 and 1/2 version. This set also 1ups the craftsman as it has a shorter turn distance before it clicks then the craftsman kit, which = the smaller the area you are able to move the ratchet side to side means this kit will out perform the craftsman as you will get more done and not run out of room so easily before you get it to ratchet back to make your next turn!

Great ratchet set for tight working conditions. It allowed me to get into very tight spaces where a conventional ratchet wouldn't reach and allowed me to complete one job that 2 auto repair shops said they couldn't do.

Used on Heavy Vehicles mostly to conduct valve adjustments as the pass through allows access for the hex driver/screwdriver to lock the valve into place whilst holding the setting steady.Slightly easier than manually with a box head spanner because of efficiency/laziness.

I love Gearwrench tools and these pass through sockets are great when working in tight places or on bolts with long threads
