This ultralight motor produces just enough torque to drive a geared extruder, it's intended use is to give the lightest possible extruder. In the majority of cases it will work with our Titan extruder, however, there is minimal engineering margin. If you are running a Volcano or high extrusion rate, you may run into issues.

I got this for my new geared extruder setup - and everything was fine until I started having to crank up my e-steps to get prints to even test. On finer examination, I realized this has .9 degrees per step - rather than the 1.8 per step found in most normal-size NEMA-17 motors. What this means is that you have to double your expected e-steps - that's all. The output torque has been great, and now my prints are working and looking better than ever. I never realized how much effect the step size has on the print output until this worked right, and now I can't wait to print bigger stuff.I recommend printing a single-wall box and measuring the wall thickness - everything is good when you see .45mm thick walls on average.

The item I received looks like it was used and not new

A smaller stepper is going to possess less torque, that's physics. But, as a smaller stepper it has more steps letting you have more control over your filament. I used this on the Titan Direct Drive for my Creality Cr10 V2. The filaments are feeding without issue and I needed ZERO modifications to have it work out of the box. There is a flaw with the V2's and Direct Drives with the A frame hitting the larger stepper motor. You loose approximately 120mm of build height without further modifications. This helped recover that volume with small 5mm spacers on the A frame bolts.

I set it for 1.4A and it really didn't have enough torque for me on a direct drive BMG extruder. Some filaments/speeds would just skip. I think the weight saved is a moot point because you will have problems printing fast enough to reap the benefits. I have the next size up now and that seems to be the sweet spot. That's probably why this slim stepper is no longer the motor called out by E3d for their 3:1 extruders. Also make sure the cable stays plugged in. The friction fit on the driver side isn't that tight. It wiggled loose on me once.if you wanna run your filament hot, or slowly then this would be fine. I would recommend a cheaper mid sized stepper to a friend.

Edit:I ended up talking to a couple people who suggested making sure to "season" my hot end, since it was an all-metal hot end and I was printing with PLA. Once I did this, the stepper motor was able to keep up with the appropriate VREF.Original review:I really wanted to like this stepper, and with have the reviews saying it would work for a bondtech extruder, I decided to try it out. Being twice as expensive as all of the other steppers, I assumed it would have the torque required to work with my direct drive set up.I was unfortunately wrong. Something about a Bondtech extruder with a V6 hotend meant that I had to run PLA at a low temperature to avoid clogging from scorching. This unfortunately meant that even running at 40mm/s print speed, the stepper would skip steps regularly.I plan on returning the stepper, as I won't be able to use it in my build.

This was an easy replacement for the larger E3D stepper motor that came with the Titan Aero. It weighs less than the larger motor so, in theory, the reduced weight should lessen any ringing artifacts in the walls. The reduced size also allowed me room to apply a heatsink and still fit in the same space as the larger motor.

This was a good price on a good product and I just happened to be in the process of trying to make the best possible direct drive for my cr10 or ender 3...Havnt decided which... I have only tested the motor for functionality but im sure its fine, it turns.

I figured if I bought from a known company name it would work, but I guess not. This motor will not turn a simple extruder. Nothing, fancy a 3:1 ration extruder should work fine. Unfortunately, I cannot return this since it is past the 30 days mark. I will be using the piece of garbage a paper weight.
