Nice transformer with a true 1.1 amp output.The open circuit float voltage was approx 21 / 22 vac output with no load applied on this 18vac transformer, although that was with an A/C input of Aprox. 126 vac.The green pilot indicator is not crazy bright however it is visible in bright sunlight if you shade the area with your hand. Due to some oddities with the circuitry that the transformer was connected to, the internal circuit breaker or PTC device tripped at aprox the rated max of 1.1 amp because of a 2.2 amp draw. I could see it trip as the current slowly rose above the 1.1 amp area. Then reset after the load was disconnected for 10 or 20 ? Seconds. I'm guessing the circuit protection is a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) thermistor, as the transformer did not cycle on and off like you would see with a self resetting breaker. It requires that the load be disconnected or power be temporarily removed.Appears to be a quality transformer. Also does not run crazy hot like many others do even when they have a minimal load .I am not certain, but the pilot lamp may be connected to the mains A/C input and not the 18 VAC output. So if it is in the breaker tripped mode the pilot lamp will remain on. I believe that is the situation I observed, so just be aware of that possibly being the case.

After the last hurricane our gate wouldn't work.Upon trouble shooting we found that the transformer was hot and must have shorted out.I found the replacement on Amazon and had it fast.Our gate is up and running.Thank you

I bought this as a replacement for a different brand of 18VAC transformer that powers my automated gate, it is great that this one includes a status light as I had to use a multimeter to tell if the other one was working or not...and I didn't notice it had stopped working until the gate was inoperable and the battery was ran flat.Works as advertised, which is all you can ask for for a power transformer.

Ordered this transformer to change my automated gate opener from solar to electric powered. Was easy to install - fit into my 1 gang receptacle. Meets my expectations.
