I don't play a lot of double bass, but when I do or want to quickly release the top hat, this clutch is just perfect. Not only that, but travelling to gigs and setting up is quite a bit quicker with the ball bearing quick release for the bottom hat. I have never had any issues and it's going strong today, almost 8 years later. I am about to order another couple as backups/spare kits.

High quality. Great design. Works every time. Doesn't take much stick force to drop the hi-hat and very little pressure on the foot pedal connects it back up. I've read some negative reviews and am only guessing but, if your connecting rod isn't thick enough the alignment of the clutch won't be perfect and could cause hangup when trying to drop and poor connection when trying to reconnect. Just a thought.

Pretty neat device.....broke my right pedal foot. Needed to use left for base and with just a tap hat was closed for rythem mode, tap pedal and it picks up smoothly. Easy to install and adjust
