GOLD LEAF KIT SPECIFICITIES

Wadities imitation gold foil is carefully crafted from traditional raw materials and advanced techniques. It is stable in nature and has good weather resistance, fire resistance, acid and alkali resistance, pollution resistance, insect bite resistance, radiation resistance, odourless and permanently colourfast.

The first time you dip the brush in the paint, you should turn the brush slightly in the paint so that the bristles open up and absorb the paint fully. You simply dip the brush into the paint first, then lift the brush and wait a few seconds to allow excess paint to drip off before using it to brush onto the painted area.

After use the brush needs to be rinsed off with water and aired out for the next use.

A good set to use for learning all the needs of gold leafing. Easy to use and follow instructions. Recommend checking out YouTube videos for gold leaf in general for more uses. I am using this with mixed media and seems to work well.

This made a dull gold frame pop and look renewed. I purchased a different brand and it looked dull and whitish. This gild was a bright gold and truly enhanced everything I used it on. I bought two kits and I'd by it again.

This gold leaf and gilding adhesive set is a solid option for beginners looking to try their hand at gilding. It includes 100 small gold sheets, adhesive, varnish, brushes, and a pair of disposable gloves. The materials are of good quality, and the process is straightforward: apply adhesive, cover with gold foil, rub, and seal. While it's great for small to medium projects, the small size of the sheets may not be ideal for larger ambitions. The instructions provided are limited, so you might need to turn to online tutorials for additional guidance.Otherwise, this is a great value for beginners and a fun way to add a touch of gold to your projects. Just keep in mind that achieving professional results will take some practice.

This gilding kit worked very well. The size dried quickly and was easy to work with. This is quick size, it has a working window of about an hour. You have to let it dry so it's not wet to the touch before you can put the gold on. When it's put on carefully and smoothed with the brushes, you can get it almost mirror finish. It's really cool. The varnish worked well too, I brushed everything on, I didn't spray anything, though I'm going to try spritzing the varnish on after with the spray bottle. It doesn't leave visible brush marks when you paint on the size and varnish.

Ages ago I did a mixed media painting that needed a little touching up, and this kit was perfect for that.I recommend using tutorials on YouTube if this is your first time working with gold leaf (seeing videos will give you a better idea than following the instructions listed in this kit).Pros:- You’re provided with everything you need for most projects. If using for paintings and canvases, like me, you might want some smaller brushes (ones that you don’t mind possibly throwing away! It can get messy).- Quality of all provided materials seems fine, though I did not use the water bottle.Neutral:- Directions are so-so. In my case, I let the adhesive sit for about two minutes before applying the foil (keep in mind that I used it VERY sparingly). Your goal is to have the surface be tacky but not dripping, or the foil will get all gunked up with the glue as you “paint” it on.Cons:- None! Just be aware of the size of the materials you’re receiving. This kit is better suited for smaller-sized projects.

I’ve been trying to read up on gold leafing techniques, it’s all very confusing so I figured I might as well start with this set. Follow the directions on the box and you’ll be fine, the piece I have pictured was foiled with the leaf included in this set, I much prefer the sheets to the flakes, those were a headache. I did two coats of the included varnish, time will tell if the varnish is enough to keep the tarnish away. I suggest purchasing your own cotton gloves if you’re going to work with metal leaf, the cheapie plastic gloves that were included are kind of useless.

This gold leafing kit is awesome! I wanted something different for the wooden cross decor I am making and this gold leaf is perfect! I am a complete beginner at this, so I would have appreciated a bit more detail to the directions, but they were sufficient enough for me to get the hang of it. This kit provides everything needed to complete the process which I really appreciate! Additionally, this kit provides plenty of sheets of gold leaf and the glue and varnish for multiple small projects! I am thrilled! Be advised though, this does get very messy and will send gold flakes all over everything like glitter. I did this project indoors as it is single digits outside and I now have gold leaf “glitter” all over my carpet. I didn’t prepare for that so I will have to be more cautious next time, but I was very pleased at the odor less glue and varnish!! Overall, I am very pleased and will be buying more if I ever run out!

I’ve always been intrigued by gold foiling after seeing so many creators use it in their crafts. The final results always looked so stunning, and I loved how versatile it was. There’s so much you can do with it to make an item truly unique, whether it’s for personal decor, selling products, or simply enhancing something you already own. This kit is a great choice for beginners! I love how it includes everything you need to get started, and the gold foils are of good quality in my opinion. As a first-time user of this technique, I may not have the most experience, but from what I can tell, it seems to be a solid product—though other more seasoned crafters may have a different perspective. The application process and instructions are straightforward, which I really appreciate. The steps are simple to follow, and the foil adheres quickly, so you do need to be careful when applying the adhesive. The gold foil sticks almost instantaneously, making it easy to work with, but also a bit tricky if you’re not careful. As a first-time user, I found it to be beginner-friendly, and the end result was satisfying. While mine wasn’t perfect, I’m confident that with practice, I’ll get better and refine my technique—after all, the first time is always a bit of a test run!One thing I noticed is that the process can get a little messy. The gold foil has a tendency to stick to everything, so it's important to set up your workspace properly. I found that using newspaper underneath worked really well because the foil also sticks to smooth, glossy surfaces. Plus, it made it easier to gather up any excess foil and save it for later.Overall, I think this is an AMAZING kit! It gives you everything you need to get started, and I’m excited to use it for many future creative projects. The only downside is the messiness, but that’s easy to manage with the right setup. I definitely recommend this kit for anyone looking to try out gold foiling—it’s a great entry point, and you can always upgrade things like brushes as you gain more experience.

As a beginner to gilding, I found this kit to be a good entry point for creating stunning projects. It provides enough materials for a larger undertaking or several smaller ones, so you get good value for what you’re paying. Though there’s a bit of a learning curve with the technique, it’s a satisfying process, and the results are truly rewarding. In one test, I skipped the varnish altogether and was pleasantly surprised by how well the gilding stayed intact. After a day of handling the project, there was no flaking, and the gold foil still looked fresh and vibrant. This made me feel confident in using the foil on future projects, as it seems to adhere well on its own. However, when I did apply the varnish in another test, I discovered that it had an unfortunate effect on my water-based marker ink. The ink bled once I applied the varnish over the gilded area. But when I used an alcohol-based marker instead, it didn’t smudge, so I’d recommend testing the varnish first on a small area to see how it interacts with your materials. While applying the gold foil, I used the brush included in the kit to press the foil onto the adhesive. The brush worked fine, though I did notice a few edges where the foil didn’t stick as well. I suspect the adhesive layer could have been a little thicker in those areas. The foil itself is very thin, and handling it requires care. The kit provides 100 sheets of foil, each individually wrapped in paper, which helps protect them. However, once you open the package, there’s no resealable bag to store any unused foil, so I suggest finding a way to keep it safe for later use.The instructions, while generally clear, do have some inconsistencies. It mentions waiting 30 minutes for the adhesive to dry before applying the foil, but later suggests only waiting 15 minutes. I found that the correct waiting time depends on how thickly you apply the adhesive and the size of your project. Ultimately, you want the adhesive to feel tacky but not fully dry before laying down the gold. The kit includes everything you need to get started: adhesive, gold foil sheets, varnish, two large brushes, and plastic gloves. The gloves are a nice bonus, but if you have more fitted gloves available, those will offer more precision for applying the materials. The brushes included are better suited for larger projects, like furniture or picture frames, but they might be too large for delicate work.

This gold leaf kit has everything you need to take your project to the next level. It comes with adhesive, sealer, 100 sheets of gold leaf (3 3/8" x 3 5/8"), gloves, two brushes (one with white bristles, the other with gold), and instructions. It’s a complete set, which is great if you’re new to working with gold leaf or just want everything in one package. That said, there is a bit of a learning curve. If you’ve never worked with gold leaf before, be prepared for a little trial and error. It’s incredibly delicate, and you’ll want to work in an area with little to no air movement—this stuff will take off at the slightest breeze.I used it to repair an old picture frame, and once I got the hang of it, the results were fantastic. The gold leaf applied smoothly and looked great when sealed, giving the frame a whole new life. I’ve also used it on other projects, like paper and resin, with equally good results. If you’re looking for a quality kit to add a touch of gold to your projects, I’d definitely recommend this one!

I am really enjoying this gilding kit so far. I have found that there is a bit of a learning curve to using it and I recommend trying it on a practice project once or twice before trying a high pressure improvement.I paint with watercolours and decided to use this gilding kit to add a bit of flash to some of the cards that I make. The first thing I noticed is that after shaking the glue, it is filled with bubbles so I had to spend some time slow stirring to get rid of as many as I could. Next, in order to make fine lines with the glue it needs to be watered down a bit. This is noted specifically in the instructions as something you can do, which is nice.I used a toothpick to run fine lines of glue over the paint and left it to dry. I lost track of time (painting the next card) and it sat for approximately 90 minutes before I applied the layer of gilding foil. The glue was perfectly sticky and the foil was successfully bonded to the paper.I found that the watered down glue did spread a bit while it dried so I'm glad I did a couple of practice rounds.Brushing off the excess foil was easy and the pieces on top of the glue stayed exactly where I wanted them. The excess foil did break up into a million tiny pieces which turned out to be a happy accident in my case, it added a glittery look to my winter scene which I am happy with. Worth noting and preparing for if this is not something that will improve your project. The glue didn't discolour any of the adjacent painted paper or absorb down through my project.I have not yet used the varnish as I don't want to disturb the rest of the painting so unfortunately I'm unable to comment on the quality of that part of the kit yet. When I use it, if I run into anything unexpected I'll update the review. In the context of adding tiny pieces of flash to small paintings, this kit will supply my needs for years to come so the value is quite good in this case.

The kit comes with everything you need for a gilding project: adhesive, 100 gold foil sheets, varnish, instructions, two larger brushes, and two individually wrapped pairs of loose plastic gloves. Adding the gloves is nice, but if you have fitted ones I’d recommend you use those instead. The instructions are a bit contradictory. In one area they say to wait 30 minutes between laying down the adhesive and applying the gold foil, in another it says to wait 15. I suspect the amount of time depends on the thickness of the application of glue and the size of your project. Basically, you’re waiting for the glue to feel tacky instead of sticky. For my test I did a small scale project, a medieval style initial on paper. I used my own brush to apply the products as the included brushes were too big. The kit’s brushes would be great for a larger project, like furniture or a picture frame and seem to be good quality.I shook the adhesive and laid down a thin layer, then waited to apply the gold. The gold foil sheets come stacked between 2 pieces of thin cardboard, in a plastic wrapped package. I wish the kit came with an appropriately sized resealable bag, as once you open the package with the foil sheets there’s no way to store the loose sheets anymore. Each foil sheet is in its own paper folder. The sheets are very thin and need to be laid down carefully or they’ll tear.I laid the foil and lightly brushed it with one of the included brushes to get it to stick to the adhesive, then brushed away the excess. It adhered well, though I think a slightly thicker layer of adhesive would have been better, as a few areas around the edges seemed to ‘chip’, with the foil not staying on. This is my first time using foil, so I’m not sure if that’s normal.I applied a thin layer of varnish over my project and discovered that the varnish made my water based marker run. I tried some varnish over an alcohol based marker and its ink did not run. If you’re using the varnish on a mixed media project, definitely confirm it won’t react negatively with your products before pouring it on.I did a second similar test and this time didn’t add the varnish. On paper the gilt holds very well even without the sealer. Brushing it with my finger and the brush the next day nothing flaked off. The applied gold foil is very shiny and looks amazing. As with any new craft, there’s some amount of a learning curve. The kit includes enough product to do one larger project or several smaller scale ones. This is a good set.
