This is the second time purchasing this product. The first purchase was for a personal project to create lamps by cutting bottles, and the result was excellent because the cutter is very easy to use with minimal pressure on the bottle. Finally, only cold and hot water is required. I bought this to make Christmas presents with early in December, and have since cut roughly 75-100 bottles. At first I had a good few break, and now most recently I cut about 30 and only 1-2 out of those broke.For a beginner this is a great tool. It is sometimes limiting regarding the size of the bottle you are cutting, and I have to press much harder than instructions say to get it to properly score the bottle. Because of this needed extra pressure, the score mark isn't always 100% even.*Impressed of the thickness it can cut! I did a large Svedka vodka bottle and highly doubted it would work with how thick the bottle is, but it made a perfect cut.Overall it's not perfect but does what it is supposed to do, and from reading countless reviews before purchasing this, for the $$ you pay, I do not believe there is a better option. As you get better and do it more, if you are like me you'll be looking for other ways to cut bottles that will be more user friendly, adaptable, and better at scoring.My method that seems to work very well, but takes a little practice, is first scoring of course, going around once. I have gone around twice when scoring is not going well, and honestly have good success rates. Then the bottle is spun over the score line over a candle slowly for 5-6 rotations. Then I have a large bowl in my sink with ice cold water (scooped a ton of ice into the bowl of water) which I dunk the bottle in. If at this time it does not pop off, which 40-50% of the time it will, I have a small coffee press filled with boiling water I pour over the score line. 98% of the time that's all it needs and pops right off.

I received this bottle cutter just 15 minutes ago and tried it immediately. I had watched a few YouTube tutorials beforehand, and one was particularly helpful. First, it's important to score the bottle no more than twice; the cutter doesn't actually cut the glass but creates a stress line for a clean break. Second, carefully pour boiling water in a thin stream over the score (tip: tilt the bottle slightly to avoid burning your hand), followed by a stream of cold water (I used my faucet). Repeat if necessary. My bottle's break line ended up asymmetrical because I didn't score it evenly all around, which I realized when applying the boiling water. Surprisingly, it only took one round of boiling water followed by cold water for the bottle to separate.My unit arrived with all five rollers pre-installed, possibly in response to complaints about having to mount two of them yourself. Regardless, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. It came with safety gloves, the hand cutter, a small vial of oil (though I didn't use it based on the tutorial's advice), sandpaper, instructions (which I haven't needed yet), and of course, the bottle cutter. Sanding the edges took the most time because I wanted them rounded, but the break was so clean that less sanding would have sufficed. Remember to lay something down to catch glass dust while sanding and consider wearing a mask to avoid inhaling it.Overall, I'm delighted with this product! By following these tips, you can achieve great results too.

I enjoy cultivating spices in my apartment, but due to frequent travel for work, I struggled to keep them watered and often lost plants. After successfully cutting the bottles, I transferred my plants into them, and they now thrive independently, absorbing water as needed. I have cut 12 bottles and still cannot tell why one worked and another cracked. Impossible to ascertain exactly how much pressure (firm but not too hard?). Difficult to tell if you have scored all the way around with without accidentally double scoring part of it. Now I see an upgraded version that includes bands for each side of the score and a slightly different way of using the hot and cold water to help separate the 2 sides. Would that make a difference? How many upgrades until you get a kit that works? Customer Support has never seen or tried the device and can only repeat instructions that you have already read. Not happy - bordering on mad. Will return.

This does exactly what it’s intended for and works really well. It cuts all sizes of glass bottles really well It’s an excellent price but what I appreciate the most is the customer service and quality of customer interaction that this company provides. I’d recommend this.
