I plan to buy at least 2 more. Yes they are light weight. The kit is sturdy the cord is not thin, but the plastic dome is very cheap. I have read that some people have found the dome crumpled and warped on arrival in the mail, but ours was fine. However I can see where any excessive heat would do that! The one peeve I had was that the light hangs by its electric cord. However because it is so light weight I don't see this as a problem. I just generally do not like to hang lights by their cords. It can cause a fire risk. I would advise slipping a peice of hose or tubing over the cord when you hang it up, or a little tape, to avoid wear, and not hang it where it will be yanked or pulled. I also suggest using LED lights as they don't heat up. Any light bulb you put in this will melt the plastic dome if it gets hot. For the price, this light is wonderful.The light weight dome and no chain on the cord to hang it by was the only thing I gave it 4 stars for. UPDATE (4 months): I have had this light since around April. It is now the first of September and I loved it so much I bought 2 more, as planned. I have decided to up this review to 5 stars. The cord is so heavy on this light and it came with nice plastic cord holders to screw in to the ceiling, which seems to have eliminated my concerns for a fire risk. I put the light on a breaker bar to make it easier for my grand-daughter (3 years old) to turn on the light. It hangs over her play area with a bright LED light in it which really lights up the entire room. I noticed that they have changed the way they package this light by taping the entire dome to a large stiff cardboard. This holds the dome in its proper shape nicely and prevents it from becoming warped during shipment. I know a lot of people complain about the light not holding its shape. DO NOT put a bulb in this light that will get hot! Use a bright white LED if you want bright light. Otherwise you will warp the plastic dome! The socket is made of brushed metal and porcelin. It would make a wonderful light kit for a craft project if someone wanted to change the dome out for their own creation. It also comes with some nice screw in metal hooks and accessories. I will probably buy more of these in the future as gifts for friends and for the rest of my house. Thank you to Amazon and Globe for providing a lovely light that is effective and affordable on a tight budget!

This lamp is perfect. I was wanting something at with a good lighting and easy to assemble. I wanted to replace our table lamp to give us more counter space. This lamp is super light weight. The cover is plastic which is perfect for me, my 4 year old loved to throw toys and I was worried about having glass above our couch but the plastic is good quality and esthetically pleasing. It came with the lamp, a very long cord with an on off switch, two hooks for the ceiling and two adapters for the cord/hook combo. I also bought the corner cord cover which I plan on painting the same color as the one wall. Over all 10/10. No complaints. I’m one happy customer!

I am very happy with this item for the use I intend it for, which is temporary. It did arrive misshapen and could’ve been kept in round if it had been packed in an appropriately-shaped foam ring. But, for my use, I’m not too worried about it. Perhaps, the summer heat, if it’s up that long, will help it to mold back into shape or, perhaps, the shad can be sat in warm or hot water for a time to allow it to reshape. Not sure. For my temporary use, I actually have it dangling from a ceiling fixture that needs repair and is not currently working, over a staircase, where life is needed for safety. If I needed to though, I’d certainly use this light permanently elsewhere. Is it cheaply made? Yes. Yes, it is. But, it is a nice, modern looking ceiling fixture that offers lightweight portability for those who cannot afford more, don’t wish to pay more, or don’t want to wire a ceiling light themselves. Most guests are not going to reach up to feel whether they think its cheap either. It’s weight is also good for not having to worry about dropping a glass fixture and shattering it or causing injury.As the non working fixture I have has Cree Connected WIFI bulbs installed, because this is a temporary solution for me, I simply transferred one of the two bulbs to this fixture. So, this cheap fixture is also an dimming, remotely-controlled and scheduled light, which I can operate via my iPhone from anywhere.So, although I, too, will complain about a products detractors (and boy, I’m good for that), this works fine for me, doesn’t look bad doing it, and I took it upon myself to get creative with it’s use.

Simple and nice, elegant and practical effect. Very lightweight so it doesn't pull on the cord. The cord on mine was a clear plastic, no colour, which was perfect my own application. Nice ceramic socket. The switch on mine does NOT have dimmer, which is what I wanted, no dimmer. Very pleased with this cost effective resolution to replacing the prior plug in lamp. Very happy with this.

This light was the perfect size for above my kitchen table. The cord is long, so I had more placement options. The lampshade is a plastic material which is very lightweight, but nice quality! I definitely prefer the lightweight material over glass as this was very easy to hang from my ceiling. I plugged this light into an outlet that is controlled by a switch on my wall so it feels like a built-in light. Love it!!

OMG! Why have I never tried this type of thing before?! This celling lamp gives me the light I’ve been needing in my room. I got 2 of them and I’m finally swimming in light and I couldn’t be happier! If you’re on the fence, get it! If I can put it up, anyone can. Believe me. The only CON: the lampshade is made of thick PLASTIC. I didn’t even know this was legal. It seems like such a fire hazard. I’m sure it’s been tested etc but I’m going to be very careful of leaving the lights turned on when I’m not there. Good habit anyway. It doesn’t bother me one but. In fact, I LIKE the fact that it’s plastic. I’m not worried about breaking or cracking it! I can’t wait to find more uses for these . I didn’t know it was possible to finally get enough light. I’m serious.

Es de plastico pero aun asi se ve muy bien, incluye los tornillos para colgarlo en el techo no necesitas de un especialista para ponerlo por que incluye la clavija y el apagador muuuy bien.

We mounted this in our garage and the overhead door drive motor so the light comes on and goes off automatically. Works great and gives off a pretty good light. Quite happy to have it.

light fixture is made out of plastic as stated, it was slightly warped when I got it but it seems to have relaxed and gone back into normal shape. The on switch is located close to the plug but there is a fair amount of cord to play with for hanging etc. I use the light regularly in my home and had no issues with it. I'd have to say great value for the price.

muy bonita lampara, luce bastante aunque es plastico y los materiales super sencillos, el precio es adecuado creo yo pero si lo compraria de nuevo
