I had to do some major grinding and shaving to get into my 1999 silverado 1500 you need a ton of tools and mechanical skill to get to work I shaved down the center block and the ends of the rear axle shafts to get to fit. If you want a bolt in and go look for a different product. This works great once installed.

I filtered my search results to fit my vehicle and read thoroughly through the product description thinking it will be a direct bolt on type job and it was not. I have an open differential just like the product was advertised to fit. I have 30 spline axles just like the product was advertised to fit. The main issue was once I installed the left and right outer shells that the axle splines into, there's not enough clearance to install the two piece lock that the pin supposed to go through to rotate the carrier and install the pin. It keeps hitting the housing. Now, I have to get the locks machined down 1/4" of and inch on both sides and try to complete the install. Extremely inconvenient since I only have that one vehicle. So, I machined the blocks down as per instructed by the representative at Quick Performance and the spool fit perfectly! I do not recommend this product for anyone expecting it to drop right in but, it's a good buy for the ones who know and can't afford a posi unit.

Most of the commenters here don’t understand there is a small difference in 8.5” and 8.6” 10 bolts. There is no mini spool that I’ve seen for the 8.6 (99-up) trucks. 8.5 mini spools will work with minor modifications to the carrier.

I installed a mini spool on my 05 Silverado 1500 with the 8.6 10 bolt differential. It required extensive grinding to make it fit – everything from the 30 spline to the blocks for the pin needed modification. The process was time-consuming, starting on Friday after work and finishing around 8:00 pm on Saturday. Despite the challenges, I managed to make it work with just a grinder.Side note-Went out on a limb with the 30 spline choice, and it turned out to be the perfect fit for my truck's 8.6 10 bolt differential. Note that there are options for both 28 and 30 splines, but the 30 spline worked seamlessly in my case.

It’s a piece of sh**. I had to modify everything to make it work. I had to grind and bur the pieces. I had to shim stuff. This is not what you want. This is a terrible product.

Put this in a 06 standard cab Rwd 5.3l silverado with a 8.5" 10 bolt out of ???. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because it did require some slight modifications to get this installed. The axle retainer C clips had to be ground down a bit in order to fit since the axle grooves didn't clear the outside cups. The side of the carrier opposite the ring gear where the gear slides through the opening had to be opened up just a hair to fit the larger diameter splined cup. Inside the carrier where the spider gears sit I had to shave the casting down a hair on either side so I could rotate the locking blocks into place to accept the pin. Both of the modifications to the carrier removed VERY small amounts of material. Did both with a small carbide bit and shaved off a little bit at a time until everything fit the way I wanted.Confident I could put the gears back in and everything would still work just fine. I am going to buy a set of new retainer clips if I go back and will keep the ground down clips with this.First test drives seem to be fine. If your putting one of these in your already aware its gonna drive like garbage under normal everyday city driving conditions. With that in mind I am surprised at how well it actually does feel.Hopefully I won't get myself into too much trouble since my truck just got alot more fun to throw around corners and do doughnuts!
