Those ceramic wire nuts are indeed the way to go, if you're only twisting up 81 or 20 ga. wires, but they wouldn't consistently hold on to stranded when I used 'em . . BUT those ceramic cases around the contacts let me relax and know that even if they DO heat up, they won't burn, like the cheaper thermo plastic/bakelite ones . .

I'm an appliance technician and bought these because the manufacturers stopped making the ceramic bodied ones.On these, the wires are too short; you have very small chance of having enough unburnt wire left under the cooktop to attach the new receptacle. The wires are also smaller guage than OEM. In the Whirlpool range I tried these on, they didn't even fit. The burner didn't insert far enoughDo not use these if you want a repair that lasts.Here's a pro tip on how to make a lasting repair:Use OEM parts and cut back enough wire under the cooktop until you have shiny metal conductor but not so much that the wires have to be routed close to the other burners. Also, if you are replacing the receptacle, it's almost certain that the plug in ends of the burner are pitted, so replace that burner too. And lastly, if you find yourself needing this repair, check your usage. Appliances are getting more cheaply built. Nowadys, coil type cooktops even have limiters that shut down the burner when they get too hot. If one of these burners is always used in high, or an 8 inch burner has a 16 inch diameter huge stockpot on top of it boiling beans for hours, expect to do this repair a lot. Heat can only dissipate so fast.

The receptacles are made by ceramic.. Very durable. Other bands use Plastic.. They are easier to be burned....
