This might be useful as a regular or marine compass, but it can't be used as a car compass. Since that compass is generally located at the eye level of a driver, he/she can't see the pointed end of the arrow drawn on the floating ball.

Terrible quality don't waste the money, magnet is about 150 degrees off of proper alignment. Needle points south, the heading reads opposite from driver perspective.

These car compass dashboards are not as reliable as they seem. After trying one out, it became clear that the ball floating in water inside doesn't always provide accurate direction readings. The magnet's accuracy is off by a significant margin, making it difficult to trust the directions displayed on the dashboard. Despite its durable design and materials, this product falls short of expectations when it comes to functionality.

This is a variable angle car compass. It is made with a ball floating in water inside. I did not get this for a car, but rather for my scooter when we take it for rides in the country. I do have a pocket compass but I would much rather have this on the handlebars. I love the way this floats in any direction and tells you where you are. This is a good quality compass and is durable and reliable. I am thrilled to have this excellent ball compass!

Does not work well as a driving compass. The drivers view does not indicate the direction the car is going.
