went through dominant and evah pirazzi Es before this. both were just too bright for my violin, the goldbrokat sounds a bit warmer while still keeping good volume and projection.would say its just slightly lighter than the average medium gauge E, feels really nice to me but mileage may vary.

In addition to this, I've tried Jargar, Dominant, Obligato, Evah Pirazzi, and Amber E strings. Lenzner came out on top as the best blended with the other strings and decently projecting. Only Amber came close, but I found it slightly too bright, and much more expensive.

My new violin came with this E string. I am not a big fan of Lenzner -- it sure is loud, but sounds too metallic for my liking. I will probably change it to either Pirastro Gold or Hills in a month or two.
