GOMMO Natural Abalone Shell Veneer Sheets for Inlay

Native to the coast of New Zealand, abalone shells are mollusks, like clams and oysters, that have flat, unilateral, ear-shaped shells with tentacles and feet.Inside the abalone shell is naturally fluorescent, a dazzling iridescent mineral complex that varies in color and is even more subdued. The color and texture of abalone shells are naturally produced in the deep sea. After fine polishing, it has a beautiful natural curvature. When inlaid in furniture, it will produce endless color changes under different light. Owning such a piece of furniture is equivalent to bringing the beautiful sea by your side.

GOMMO abalone sheet veneer is carefully selected from high-quality shells through roten sheets, peeled off and cut shell sheets as inlays. The original shells are carefully selected and carefully crafted layer by layer, carefully polished, edged and shaped, hand-finished, repeatedly surface polished, pressed and pasted by a special process, and embedded and flattened bit by bit, and finally achieve pure handmade craftsmanship can be made into pleasing shell veneer sheet.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

1. There are two version Veneer Sheet: Flexible Version 0.08mm thickness and Flat Version in 0.17mm thickness.

2. We want explain to you that abalone shell is hard material, we need polish them to extremely thin to achieve 360 bend flexibility, so all flexible version shows tiny grid pattern when you look at it close , if you could not accept grid pattern pls purchase our flat version, flat abalone sheet with no grid pattern in 0.17mm thickness while could not bend flexibility.

3. Since all the shell veneer were made manually and individually, no two products are exactly the same. We try our best to maintain consistency among the product lines in terms of color and pattern.

I got this because I got tired of replacing the fake abalone stickers on my fretboard. I tried to use this stuff as a sticker, but it was too thick. I decided that I would cut the abalone sheet into their respective size blocks and inlaid them into the neck of my bass guitar using a hobby knife. The final product came out really amazing in my opinion. I am not a professional luthier, but I am well pleased.

This inlay is extremely beautiful, I couldnâ€™t believe when I received how pretty it was. Although it was a bit pricey. In the photo is a piece I cut for the inlay and you can see the pearlescent
