I bought this to replace the nut on a bouzouki. I use tusq nuts as much as possible, and the customer was happy to try a modern material, rather than bone. The nut I was replacing was quite big, so I had to start with this blank and make the nut from scratch. Tusq always sounds great, is easy to work and shape, and is permanently lubricated so tuning is easy. I recommend tusq literally every time I do nut work.

I have a Chinese made guitar with issues, and the standard metric nut blanks were to small to make a good nut. This was my solution. Size was as described, works easier than bone, sounds good.

This is my favorite material for making a nut. Sanding bone smells like getting your teeth drilled, I can't stand it. Tusq is easy to shape and polish, and has a great ring to it.
