I bought this for the solar eclipse. Super easy to rubber-band around my lens, and I could cut snips for people to use on their phones. Works well and no wrinkles!

I bought this 12" x 12" solar filter for our family's 10" telescope, to be able to view the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse in Arkansas. My brother and I made a homemade frame to hold it over the end of the telescope. I also used a small circle cut out of the corner to make a filter for our Canon SX60 camera. I could not get the camera to focus, but I thought that it could have been something I did wrong. However, my brother working with the telescope in the last hour before solar eclipse totality said that he could not get a clear image on the telescope either. No matter how carefully he adjusted the focus knob, the image was still blurry. A friend had an identical Orion telescope except that his was 8" and ours is 10". He had bought a much more expensive solar filter designed for his 8" telescope, and with it he was able to clearly view the sun. My brother said that our Gravitis AstroSnap filter could not get a clear image on our telescope, and when he tried it on the friend's 8" telescope it was just as bad. But seeing that our friend's filter did work leads us to conclude that the problem was in the Gravitis filter itself, and not simply something that we had configured wrongly. We were very disappointed in this product.

Map it out with a piece of paper first, so that you cut in the most strategic manner. This was enough to cover one telescope and a pair of binoculars. And there was actually enough material left to cover another telescope if need be. It filtered perfectly. he was able to take pictures as well of the total solar eclipse. It is very effective and you can tell it is ISO approved.

Easily cut filters for 3 sets of binoculars. Filters cut as circles with datrs cut to allow snug fit with no light leakage. Rubber bands around the barrel held the filters in placeTore the filters off for totality.Breathtaking.

Couldn't get a regular filter in time for my lens, so ordered the filter media. Worked fine for the eclipse. Not the same quality as a dedicated filter.

I do astrophotography and recently got this because every other type is sold out so I ended up with this. Do not buy, I couldn't focus whatsoever, even though I use a triplet scope and auto focuser setup and a 1000 camera and I got 4 years of experience. This filter is plain bad, maybe good for visual observing.

Had enough film for two telescopes and one camera. We had a craft evening the night before the total eclipse. Easy to work with, easy to build the caps for our equipment. Did not tear one time. One pic with the film, the other without. Guess which one?

I used this to make a cheap solar filter for my camera. It allows me to take pictures of the sun, but I can't see much detail. I'll have to try something else.
